Less than a month after the 96th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which finally enshrined women’s right to vote in the U.S. Constitution, some supporters of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump have taken to social media to complain that without women’s suffrage their preferred candidate would be leading in the public opinion polls.

The Los Angeles Times first reported on the online backlash to Nate Silver’s recent election projections by gender. Silver’s FiveThirtyEight website published an article Tuesday that found that if only men’s votes counted in the 2016 election, Trump would easily defeat Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, with 350 electoral votes to her 188.

.@MelissaAFrancis: “If only men voted… according to the projections, Trump would grab 350 electoral votes.” #Outnumberedpic.twitter.com/J4LZJDi2GH

— Fox News (@FoxNews) October 12, 2016

“We’re not just winning national polls like L.A. Times/USC and Rasmussen, we’re beating back the increasingly desperate Dems in the battleground states, too,” Trump wrote of the men-only map. The GOP nominee’s most ardent supporters got so excited by the prospect of an American election in which only male voters participated that they took to Twitter to call for the repeal of the 19th Amendment.

Source.

Should only white, land owning, god fearing, American patriot males be able to vote? GS weights in!

This will surely rouse women to the Trump campaign's cause.

So, when Hillary leads the US into a state of permanent recession, we'll have suffrage to thank for our suffering. :-/

Yeah. I just wish I didn't have to keep explaining to people that, despite it looking like one of those temporary scam domain names such as getrichnow21.com, it's actually a legit and respected site.

How does Hilary lead us into a recession? Is she manipulating interest rates? Is she using quantitative easing, or financial instruments? I thought the line against Hilary was that she would be more of the same Obama policies? Those policies got us out of a real bad recession. Please explain.

Also, what does suffrage have to do with the economy? Might I suggest that maybe Trump would do decent with women if he was not a raving misogynist?

I really suspect it is mostly just a farce, a rather successful trolling attempt.

Or at least, I hope it is.

I honestly don't see what the problem is regarding his latest scandal. The Clintons have ordered people to be assasinated...I hadly see a dirty mouth of a dirty old man to be more dangerous than a tenth of what the Clintons are capable of...

Which one? There have been so many in the past few days I lost track.

As for Clintons ordering assassinations, do you have any evidence of that. Because chances are, I believe you are talking about debunked rumors.

Trump needs women to win this election, lets do yet another thing to alienate women from the campaign. Has there been a worse campaign run in the history of presidential campaigns?

I really am starting to wonder if he never really wanted to be President, but BOY would he have a platform to launch an alt-right network of his own after this crap show! If he wanted to use politics as a business venture, he could permanently corrupt the right of this nation for eternity. In a way, it's really funny, but in another way it's terribly sad.

Hillary.

Do you for some reason think women don't by and large pay income tax? Maybe what you are looking for is just letting white men land owners vote.

I have nothing against women voting. I just don't understand why we allow individuals who don't help pay for government vote.

As for your prediction, I'm doubtful.

Wow. Maybe if they voted more we wouldn't have so many problems because the wealthy white males would be deciding policy to benefit themselves.

You didn't need to mention it....I can read between the lines. Economically the percentages are pretty easy to spot dude.

FYI if you want people to pay taxes.....you have to give them representation....which they elect...or didn't you pay attention in American history class?

I see you entered the bargaining stage.

As for why we allow individuals who dont pay the federal tax vote. It has to do with the fact that the universal suffrage means everyone gets to vote, even those down on their luck. Even if they cant pay taxes, a good chunk of them still contribute to the economy. By doing the grunt work that is still necessary for society to function. Protecting their voice is one mighty way to protect their rights. Take away their right to vote and politicians can opt to completely ignore the demographic, as they have no need to pander to them.

Wow. You're a mind reader AND a snarky ****.

See, I don't look at characteristics like race or gender. I look at actions and behaviors.

Last I checked, you don't get to choose to not pay taxes because you don't think you're represented. When my preferred candidates lost, and I felt those holding "my" seats in congress were not representing me, I still had to pay my taxes.

"...you have to GIVE them representation..." How about they get off their ass and pay in to the system and EARN some representation?

Last I checked everyone pays some form of tax. Trying living without paying sales tax. Or property tax. Shame that someone that calls themselves an American wants to erode the principles this country was founded on.

I was speaking about our federal elections. The federal government does not collect sales or property taxes.

The principle I want to buttress is the principle of individual responsibility and self reliance.

I also remember waking up during history class just long enough to hear about the principle of no taxation without representation. That principle or, in the case of those who founded this country, that demand for representation is valid for those being taxed.

I don't care what you are speaking about. There is no such thing as no taxes. And in the US we allow those over the age of 18 who register to vote. It's frankly disgusting you want to take that right away.

And this is why I had no objection when Clinton called a portion of the Trump supporters deplorable.
