i was wondering if i went into walmart with say cod4 or a $60 game and said I bought this game the other day and it didn't work and i wanted to see if i could exchange my game for another and don't have my recipt. Would they allow me to return it and get a new game that is $60 for example cod4 for mercs 2

now that i think of it project 8 was sealed. I remember exchanging cod2 multiple times because the disk was broken. I did not have a recipt. But they game me the same game back
If you could get away with what you were doing, wouldn't everybody be able to just give their old games back to walmart for a new one? Think about it. And even if you tried it, if it isn't in shrink wrap, they can only give you another copy of CoD4.

They'll just give you store credit, if they feel that you didn't damage it yourself. However, if you don't have the reciept then you are out of luck and are stuck with the game that doesn't work.

I tried bringing back my Battlefield 2142 after not being able to install it right and tried to get another game. They would only allow me to exchange it for another copy of the same game....
It won't work, you need a receipt. Otherwise, how are they supposed to know you truly bought it there ?
Even if you had one, they will only let you trade your "broken" copy of CoD4 for a brand-new CoD4, not anything else. This is to prevent people from pirating games.
