I know this has nothing to do with System Wars but I just wanted to say RIP to a great actor and father. Like many people here, I had no idea that he was battling cancer. I'm a 20+ year thyroid cancer survivor and I thank the Lord everyday for giving me another chance at life. My wife and kids were all huge fans of his work and it's just sad that he has to go at such a young age.

Chadwick, thank you for the memories. You won't be forgotten any time soon. May God be with you and your family and may you truly rest in peace.

I couldn't believe it either. He's was very a strong man. It's sad that at age 43, he's no longer with us. Thanks for saying something positive. It's much appreciated

He was definitely the best part of Black Panther. I wasn't aware of his acting career beforehand, and was looking forward to seeing him in other films.

Looks like he was a great family man as well, a rare sight in Hollywood.

God rest.

I acknowledged this already so I'm fully aware of that. I'm sure a mod will eventually come around a lock this thread (though I hope they don't) but regardless, I wanted to post this anyway.

Now, would you like to say something positive about Chadwick Boseman or did you just come here to point out the obvious?

Wrong forum

But this shocked me, didn’t know he had cancer or that he was 43.

I skipped Black Panther. Tried watching it twice - wasn’t my thing. I’m not a superhero guy. Although I did like the first two Superman movies and most of the Xmen movies.

Did he do anything else of significance? Hard to mourn someone who I have no clue about.

Then again with the way this thread is going you may just want to lock it and make a fresh one in the Off-Topic Discussion.

He portrayed a lot of historical characters/people like Jackie Robinson, Thurgood Marshall, James Brown and played a bad ass detective in 21 Bridges but acting aside, he was one of those guys that got along with everyone. He didn't care what color you were or what walk of life you were from, he always had something positive and uplifting to say. He treated everyone with respect. He was just a good person all around...and that's rare these days.

C'mon man. He wasn't being rude or disrespectful. I know how you guys feel about your console of choice (because I'm the same way) but let's put our different taste aside for a bit. Without the games, consoles, etc, we're just guys (and girls) trying to have a good time.

IT's a pity since this is the easiest cancer to prevent, once you get in your late thirties, you need to colonoscopy, it's not fun, but it beats dying.

Yeah man, we usually discuss someones passing in the lounge (stickied at the top), or like others said, can go to OT.

Not just because this is off topic, but now you see how some of the responses can be.

Yeah, not sure if it's a good idea to have this thread in SW. This thread is already looking toxic. There's a thread in OT and there's the lounge. Anyways, RIP.

I know there's a bunch of old asses on this board. See your doctor, get checked, get tested. People in their 40's are dying from colon cancer more and more these days. Ask your Doctor, tell a friend. We don't need to let this one get us...

No disrespect intended but just because your not a fan of him doesn't mean other people aren't. I thought he was a pretty decent actor whom was on the rise; He portrayed numerous of movies than just BP; He was in Lincoln Heights, 42 portraying Jackie Robinson (one of the greatest baseball players ever) and both avengers movies. It is sad for me as well as a lot of folks because he was going to get better within time. May he RIP.

I've a coworker that went through colon cancer. It is, for lack of a better term, not fun.

The fact that Boseman was working as an actor in some pretty physical films (Marvel movies, Message from the King, etc) during all this is nuts.

I mean, I don't know how it played out, but to be told "You're probably going to die, but before you do you will have to endure chemo, removal of intestines, and a colostomy bag" and then respond with "OK. I am going to go make some movies, make some money for my family" is pretty awesome.

He was fairly prolific of an actor.

Also, if you liked most of the X-Men movies, then I'd give the Marvel stuff another shot. Aside from one or two, most of those X-Men movies are terrible.

This was crazy, I have been disconected so didn't find out until the day after. I actually loved his story more then his roles(he had great roles). The fact that Denzel Washington believed in him enough to pay for him to go to acting school, and the fact that he pushed himself to achieve a success in Hollywood in such a short time; really shows the strength and spirit this brother had. 43 is so young, but it gives me hope that I can accomplish a lot in the time I have. Strongest people truly suffer in silence.

I had a bout with cancer back in 2007. Was given a 90% chance of beating it from the start. I still missed 6 months of work and whined like a bitch the whole time. This man kept working and mostly in physically demanding roles. Beyond that, he just seemed like a genuinely good guy with a lot to live for.

Unfortunately, the world is becoming a bit colder each year. Poor parenting...
