Here is the trailer for the new Robin Hood movie starring Russell Crowe.

Mmm, looks like just another action movie from the trailer. But hopefully the feature will be smarter

EDIT: Sorry boys, they've taken it down. Someone just put a stake through Youtube.

Since Russell Crowe was told this movie would be like Gladiator, except in Britain. :P But yeah, I agree. I've never actually read many stories of Robin Hood, so my knowledge on the topic is slim, but I thought he was strictly a bow and arrow guy who stole from the rich and gave to the poor, and had a small group of friends helping him out in Nottingham. Not a general of an army wielding a sword more than he does a bow, riding on a warhorse with a throng of followers against a throng of enemies on the shore of an ocean. :?

You know, Cate is one heck of an actress, but this role will probably be as fleshed out as the one she had in Indiana Jones.

Mmhmm :P It's odd, that comparing the two trailers, the new one seems more ridiculous. Maybe I just don't see Robin Hood as a serious tale with bloodshed galore.

Looks okay. I used to like the old Kevin Kostner film from the 90s. The cartoon fox one is good too, and the really old one from the 30's is fun. John cleese played a great robin hood in time bandits:lol:

It is their adaptation so I don't see why all the fuss about the action or how it doesn't look like other Robin Hood films/stories.

The cast is great, the screenwriter who did he total rewrite is as well. I hope that Scott achieves something like he did with Gladiator.

That being said I'm holding off on any excitement for the film. Mainly because I don't want to be disappointed again like I was when I was excited about a film around this time last year by another director I like and yes I'm looking at you Public Enemies.

Plus Ill wait to pass early judgement until a better, more serious trailer is released. Odds are this one will be attached to some action flick and it trying to target that audience.

Since when was he not? Oh yeah - when they made him PG I guess they went back to the Robin Hood title... this was called Nottingham for the longest time. I will support it no matter what since its a baby project of ours :D WOOHOO! Love it.

I'm hoping it will be good, and yeah, the trailer shows next to nothing about the movie, so I'm sure Scott has a decent chance of making this a good movie. I'm just skepical of Russell Crowe playing the lead. Him in this trailer reminded me too much of Gladiator, and if that was part of the reason he was cast, it sets in place a bad omen.

I'm still waiting for a real "Sandals and Sword" movie to come out. You know, something that just has a ton of swords, arrows, and battles. And I don't mean any of this PG-13 crap, I mean sword through the face stuff with out that shaky camera work of Michael J. Fox the entire time.

I don't know a ton about the lore, but I think the story has changed drastically over the centuries. Originally I think he was considered to be nothing more than a criminal and a murderer. But he kind of developed into a folklore hero.

What distinguishes this character as Robin hood beyond the name.

HorseVillain

because unlike other Robin Hoods, he can speak with an English accent!

Yeah but, if he were REALLY Robin, it would be 'Robyn Hode' who lived in 'Scherewode'.

entertainment corporations (film and music, specifically) dont really make much sense nowadays concerning their property, even if its a free trailer/publicity.

unless of course it was a fake trailer

... I like Russel Crowe, and Riddley Scott to death and all.. But Robin Hood? There are like 2 dozen iterations of the story in movie form.. Couldn't they have chosen another story?
