Rock can be loads of genres such as ,Metal (Every type), Punk and other types of rock and rap can be Hip-Hop, R&B and whatever

I think rock is by far because I reckon that rappers have no talent at all.

Same, although there hasnt been any hip-hop I have really liked since the 90s so I would lean towards rock. (even though most rock i listen to is from the 80s :?)

Uhm... why in God's name would you group R&B with Hip-hop? Last time I checked, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, etc sound nothing like Rap.

I listen to both, but I hardly ever listen to Rap. But I prefer Rock over Rap anyway.

What about bands like RHCP, Incubus, Muse, Mars Volta, ect?

Those are slightly better than the mainstream rock crap, but none of those bands hold a candle to Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc.

To be honest, I prefer punk rock to some Metal bands(Speed, Power metal bands are the worst offenders) etc. who go all "LOOK AT MY GODLY GUITAR SKILLSISMZ!!1" and plays severaly milion notes at once. Music isn't about being good with instruments, it's about aranging different sounds and silence.

I didn't elaborate, punk is also great music. Both in influence and just in its own right. Bands like The Clash are brilliant

Maybe not in terms of influence or impact, but i love pretty much every song written by Incubus and RHCP. I can listen to most of their CDs straight through and not get tired...where those bands you listed, while still good, arent as appealing to me.

Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and progressive rock were the best things to ever happen to rock.

They were all important too, but punk changed the music of the time (which had gotten boring and stale with stuff like Genesis), and gave rock a wake up call
