Rock can be loads of genres such as ,Metal (Every type), Punk and other types of rock and rap can be Hip-Hop, R&B and whatever
I think rock is by far because I reckon that rappers have no talent at all.

[QUOTE="Canuck3000"]Rock...It's not even close. formula1raceryup.thats my choice
agree, i don't like one over the other
Uhm... why in God's name would you group R&B with Hip-hop? Last time I checked, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, etc sound nothing like Rap.Rock can be loads of genres such as ,Metal (Every type), Punk and other types of rock and rap can be Hip-Hop, R&B and whatever

Because Punk Rock bands barely have any idea about what the hell they are doing, all rock is confused and stupid. Rap is absolutely superior to rock. Also because Rap rocks while rocks do not rap.ErasornPunk rock is the worst example of rock you couldve chosen.

Hell, punk rock is almost synonymous with "we don't know how to play our instruments".
[QUOTE="FinneyCalc"]Rap is horrible. Rock is my choice. But the vast majority of modern rock is almost as bad as rap.mikeg0788What about bands like RHCP, Incubus, Muse, Mars Volta, ect? Those are slightly better than the mainstream rock crap, but none of those bands hold a candle to Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc.

To be honest, I prefer punk rock to some Metal bands(Speed, Power metal bands are the worst offenders) etc. who go all "LOOK AT MY GODLY GUITAR SKILLSISMZ!!1" and plays severaly milion notes at once. Music isn't about being good with instruments, it's about aranging different sounds and silence.

I dont give a **** about its influence, i care about whether it sounds good. Which is why i cant listen to the Beatles very much. They just dont appeal to me.

Bands like The Clash are brilliant

I can listen to most of their CDs straight through and not get tired...where those bands you listed, while still good, arent as appealing to me.

They were all important too, but punk changed the music of the time (which had gotten boring and stale with stuff like Genesis), and gave rock a wake up call

Rock has instruments. Rap has a lot to make up for considering that disadvantage.quiglythegreatRap never ever has involved the use of instruments! NEVER! But anyways, what difference does it makes? It's just different sounds coming from different sources, just because they would come from instruments wouldn't neccesarily make it better. :P
