Alex Lifeson isn't too bad of a drummer himself. Guitar percussion was truly revolutionary for its time.

That's not the same thing.....anyway back when I listened to guitar driven music....I generally said Satriani, Malmsteen, Hendrix, and Clapton...probably a few others I've forgotten.

Ya I probably shouldn't have put the "rephrase part in." Good choices however. I do agree with you, that there is no definitive choice for best guitar player of all time. Everyone has their likes and dislikes, but one choice will never be agreed upon.
