Ynqie was fast, and he had that "I Am A Viking" song, which totally rocked, but....there are better. But who am I to judge? I don't play guitar. I like Satriani, Greenwood, Howe, Knopfler and Hackett. I couldn't choose between them.
Zakk Wylde. Hes amazing at acoustic, electric and has an amazing voice.H3art-AttackAn amazing guitarist? Yes. Great voice? Er, you decide. But he hasn't impressed me since Pride & Glory.

I'm actually talking about his guitar playing. His vocals have never been my style. Some people really love it, but for me it's just a way to organize his rhythm playing.[QUOTE="Film-Guy"]I change my mind, jeff beck is ok, but the real best guitarist of all time in my opinion is ROBERT FRIPP of KINGS CRIMSON.blackslim3000
He changed his mind in 3 minutes. FACT!
;) Film Guy, don't say fact after you make a statement. It does nothing for its validity...
Stevie and Paige off the top of my head....

Tony Iommi-Black Sababth or Kirk Hammett-Metallica.makaveli2344If you ask me, Hammett is only considered a good guitarist because he's in Metallica. Tony Iommi, on the other hand...that thar is a rock guitar god. Not bad for a guy with two finger tips.
What aspect of their playing? there are some guitarists who pla simple stuff but it just fits the song so well, then there are the guitarists that can play a pentatonic scale faster than jesus.DrummerJonThat's why attempting to name the Best guitarist is impossible. Just post favorites.

Just to show how...inaccurate this thread is, here are some videos of great guitarists that are rarely mentionedI don't think my decision saying that SRV was the greatest guitarist was 'based off the delusion of talent that MTV has given me', it's just that I was sure that this thread was for rock and blues based guitar players... all of those players in those vids are good, I just don't think that's what the TC meant. That said, Derek Trucks needs more love...

That said, Derek Trucks needs more love... I saw Derek Trucks in concert with Eric Clapton....I can't believe I'm saying this but he is better (technically speaking) than Clapton. And SRV is also one of my favorites. But Jimmy Page is far from the best.

Ron Asheton is a very good guitarists considering how little punk guitarists try to push themselves.[QUOTE="EboyLOL"][QUOTE="Carlos_Santana"]Just to show how...inaccurate this thread is, here are some videos of great guitarists that are rarely mentionedI don't think my decision saying that SRV was the greatest guitarist was 'based off the delusion of talent that MTV has given me', it's just that I was sure that this thread was for rock and blues based guitar players... all of those players in those vids are good, I just don't think that's what the TC meant.
