I really liked Magikano. Though I reaaaaalllly hated the ending, others might not.
Edit: I r stupid. I just finished watching it yesterday, and instantly forgot about it. Mahoraba ~Heartful Days~. It's a comedy romance. Kind of like Midori Days, though not as unrealistic.
Can anyone even relate to romantic anime?

Oh man I would love to realate to any of the romantic anime's I've seen so far. lol. too bad there aren't many kinds of girls out there that act like the girls in the romantic anime's. but if someone does manage to get a girl like that, I tip my hat off to you.
Clannad and Kanon sound like that sort of thing, but I've never actually seen them.Zaeryn
Kanon is very good. Worth seeing even if you typically don't enjoy romance series, as it blends in comedy and drama elements flawlessly.
Same goes for Clannad; Kanon 2006 and Clannad have a similar feel (they're both written/produced by Key.) Clannad is currently running, however (closing in on ending) and *just* now leading up to the more dramatic point(s) in the storyline.

They sound pretty interesting, so I plan on starting one of them pretty soon. Just finished with School Days, that ending was weird. Ahh, School Days? Haven't seen it myself, but I sort of know the basic storyline, a bit about the protagonist, and the ending (which is partly why I haven't watched it :P ) Might try the VN once the translation is finished (which is actually anime-like in its presentation.)

It's a pretty good show, except for the fact that it basically is made to make you want to murder the main character. It's a good show for making you open pickle jars :P I thought it was pretty good, the ending was seriously TWISTED though >_> . It starts off as a romance anime, but it gets a little different later on. Definitely a good show, but the ending is stuck in my head still :cry:I thought EF ~A Tale of Memories~ was really dull... Only reason I watched it was that the ending theme of most episodes was a total rip-off of a certain Israeli song, and I was trying to remember which song it was.
Anyway, another suggestion is Narue no Sekai. It's a very light anime, nothing bad really happens, which is kind of why I liked it. You can also try Ramune, which is also very light, but that one's a bit too light, and I don't think it pulls it off that well.
If you don't mind about ecchi-ness you can try Green Green, or Maburaho (I heard this one's ending is badly done, so maybe not), or Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho, or Kyo no Go no Ni, and there's also Beating Angel Dokuro-Chan, though I don't know if I'd call it romance. Oh, speaking of angels, you can check Kamisama Kazoku, which I don't think was ecchi.
Oh, there's also Pita-Ten, it's kind of nice (and not ecchi either).

I'm afraid you just have poor taste :P
But seriously, how can you stand that shounen-romance and ecchi mess? (referring to most of your recommendations.) None of the shows you mentioned are even serious romance/drama series; they're all romantic-comedy series, with gimmicky ecchi and slapstick elements..(excepting what..Pita-Ten?)
Just curious what makes these shows appealing.

Hey! 'Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien' ain't no gimmicky romantic comedy!

I know..if anything, it's on the complete opposite end of the "romance" spectrum at a couple points in the storyline (romantic-tragedy.) I was actually referring to Zagirus' recommendations :P
I dunno, maybe it's that I saw them early on, before I saw what anime really has to offer.
Edit: But it's not like EF is much better. The only thing it had to make it special is that the guy had to pick between two psychos instead of just one.
And they kind of ruined any "mature" appeal it might have had when in the end the guy didn't need to sacrifice his friendship with 'I ruined my sister's life for a guy'-girl for the one he chose.
I suppose the other story arc wasn't that bad though.

I can stand a little ecchi-ness. It's just that most shows that use any at all go completely overboard with it (particularly shounen series.)
Like I said, just curious. Haven't seen Pita-Ten and that looks strangely interesting. Might give that a look. Kamisama Kazoku looks like it might be worth a watch as well. Watching like 8 different series at the moment, though. Going to have to wait a while before I can start anything else.

Actually, I take that back. The only series there that I can say that I didn't enjoy is Maburaho. I just like light anime. I watch anime to relieve stress, and since anime characters never act like normal people, then when it gets really deep and annoyingly melancholy it really annoys me when I can see exactly what was done wrong, and knowing that any normal person wouldn't have done it in the first place. If they don't act like real people, it might as well be in a comedic fashion.
Anyway, I now recall a good deep romance anime, which I saw also when I first started looking at anime. I don't recall its name, unfortunately. I'll see if I can find it.
Edit: Oh well, I need to go soon, maybe you'll know the name. It's about a guy who meets this girl in his school's pool late at night, who seems to be with some sort of military organization stationed near the school. Meanwhile, the world seems to be under attack by aliens or something, though that war isn't really shown at all in the course of the 6-episode OVA.

Fair enough.
