When I was younger I was addicted to my Rubik's Cube, and this afternoon I decided to grab the old (almost "destroyed") Rubik's Cube from my shelf.

I can no longer do 4x4x4 or 5x5x5, but I can still make a pretty decent time on the 3x3x3 considering I hadn't solved one for about 3 years now.

So, any solvers around here? What's your average time? Favorite cube? :D

My usual time is less than 2 minutes. People think it's difficult, but you really have to know about 7 different algorithms.

I used to have all the moves memorized. I can get about 70% done, but then I forget how to do the rest.

I've never done it, but my guess is that there is a pattern. Is it "look for the -largest- combination of color possible" on the rubik cube per turn, and then "each turn is in is perpendicular to the previous"?

True. The real challenge is time. :P

I averaged 29 seconds when I was younger, today I tried it a couple of times and I range from 50 seconds to 1 minute.

How do you guys do them? Is there like a site that helps?

And apperently every Rubix Cube (if done correctly) can be solved in 7 steps.

I don't remember how I learned (it was so many years ago) but I found this on YouTube. Dan Brown is awesome so it's probably good.

:D My favorite cube is the classic 3x3x3. I think my best time is ~1:15. I'm not super fast. :?

I've solved 'em before numerous times, but I never timed myself. I was usually doing something else at the same time, though, so it probably wasn't very quickly.
