Nope, what is it?
...a song contest?
"The Eurovision Song Contest (French: Concours Eurovision de la Chanson[1]) is an annual competition held among active member countries of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Each member country submits a song to be performed on live television and then casts votes for the other countries' songs to determine the most popular song in the competition. Each country participates via one of their national EBU-member television stations, whose task it is to select a singer and a song to represent their country in the international competition." - Wiki
hazbazz, i agree to an extent!
all you people who dont know what this is.. are you aware that the WHOLE of europe is a giant party right now and that everyone are one fire!? :p its pretty insane, when it was on, i couldnt see ONE person on the street, and i live in the center of a city of a quarter million people!
yes, turkey were really good, though the frontman creeped me out :p
i loved the ending of their song!!
but russias performance was too epic with the ice skating and all! :p they deserved to win, IMO.
[QUOTE="hazbazz"]Its not about the singing any more, its just countries voting for their neighbours.ferretzorExactly. The voting is utterly pointless, really. I thought Turkey was pretty good tho, on a sidenote. Yeah, I also liked that song. For the people who didn't watch it
Its ridiculous. United Kingdon fund 40% percent of it, yet were always in the bottom 3. If we drop out, it would be cancelled.ferron321Select better songs! UK has some of the best music in the world yet none of that is noticable in the contest.. I have to say though, it was atleast a better song this year then last one. :?
Seriously though, what was up with the axe- and maceman in the song Finland had?

We do?...proof?
Terry Wogan is hilarious, anyone watching the show from Britain will know what I mean. Also that show is so blatently biased, I find it ironic how the two biggest economic powers of Britain and Germany came dead last.spark5050
Yeah, I only watch it for the commentry. Some of the stuff he says is epic. I remember one year he managed to nail about 75% of the votes before they were called out just based on neighbores ect. Totalt unbiased
Hm.
I don't see what was great about Russia song. And I especially didn't like the ponce dancing around for no reason.
This contest is no longer about music. This has turned political... Everyone is just voting for their neighbors and "friends".
Even Terry Wogan (who has been doing it for 40 years) by the end of the show, was talking about standing down!
All I can say is, thank **** Ireland voted for The United Kingdom xD
P.s poor Andy

You havn't noticed how UK gets in without having to qualify every year? That's the "Big Four", Germany, Spain, France and the UK...and I doubt we fund 40% of it. Correct me of I'm wrong though.
i thought the song Greece sang was the only one i thought was actually good and could end up in the music charts.
Terry Wogan was Epic, you can tell hes not really bothered about the contest now.
Maybe UK could have a chance if we could enter one of our "Professional" singers/bands, also the fact that every country in Europe hates us (except for San Marino and Ireland:) )
nobody has probably even heard of the whatever you saidishoturface
i've heard of Eurovision. The last time i saw it was when Tatoo entered and i think the Turkish woman won...twas a while back.

I thought Turkey was pretty good tho, on a sidenote. Yeah, all the voting is political. I respect Italy for avoiding the contest. But I have to admit Chiki Chiki shoulda won. :) guilty pleasure, I live in Spain and so many people were mortified when it was chosen.

Why is the show Broadcast in mostly English even when it's held in other countries. You have to love the blatent political voting, it's a joke. Russia's song was very mediocre.
At least Terry Wogan was funny as always, and I loved the Latvian pirates.
There is talk of the western European countries (especially the UK) pulling out of the contest, until the voting is more fair. It will be interesting to see if anyone does, and what effects that would have on the contest. Bear in mind that if the UK pulled out, they'd have a hard job financing the contest.
12 points from Estonia.
I'm glad Russia won, because my favourites in that order were:
1) Azerbaijan
2) Russia
3) Finland
4) Latvia
5) Spain
I don't even remeber who the other guys were...
As I saw that Azerbaijan had no chance to win, I hoped that Russia would win. Great peformance.

From 2000 onwards, four particular countries would always qualify for the Eurovision final, regardless of their positions on the scoreboard in previous Contests. They earned this special status by being the four biggest financial contributors to the EBU (without which the production of the Eurovision Song Contest would not be possible). These countries are Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom. Due to their "untouchable" status in the Contest, these countries became known as the "Big Four".Wikipedia
