Russia isn't happy about this deal. It was just on the news that a Russian general is threatening to attack Poland.

protecting an allied nation is a disaster? With that said, what makes Russia correct in this issue? Is it simply because its the US "meddling" in another country that accepted our assistance?
Listen, I understand why the US is not loved when it comes to our policies internationally, but the cause of every problem isnt the US. The Russians are sabre-rattling, and the person doing the rattling is a general (i.e. he does not make policy) and should be ignored, plain and simple.
Quite frankly, I am tired of this blatant anti-US crap. If you have a legitimate complaint about the US (Iraq War, treatment of Japanese during WWII, Vietnam War, Patriot Act) then by all means make a complaint. Just dont let your default answer to every international problem be "USA caused it".

Now then, Dmitri, you know how we've always talked about the possibility of something going wrong with the Bomb... The *Bomb*, Dmitri... The *hydrogen* bomb!... Well now, what happened is... ahm... one of our base commanders, he had a sort of... well, he went a little funny in the head... you know... just a little... funny. And, ah... he went and did a silly thing... Well, I'll tell you what he did. He ordered his planes... to attack your country... Ah... Well, let me finish, Dmitri... Let me finish, Dmitri... Well listen, how do you think I feel about it?... Can you *imagine* how I feel about it, Dmitri?... Why do you think I'm calling you? Just to say hello?... *Of course* I like to speak to you!... *Of course* I like to say hello!... Not now, but anytime, Dmitri. I'm just calling up to tell you something terrible has happened... Frankly, this move is a step back on Russia's part.
As for the missiles, well, the missiles are in Poland because Poland wants them there. Not because the US wants them there. If Poland said "no", there would be no missiles.
But I agree, it was stupid of Bush to say something. We need to observe from the sideliens on this one and, if necessary, strip down and streak through the field if a major conflict looks like its coming.
This shield is directly directed against Russia. If it is for Iran than it should be better that it is in Turkey. I it is for N. Korea then Japan is better. Both Japan and Turkey is US allays. This is more logical to me

"up to something"
the only thing the US is "up to" is protecting its nation's owns interests, which is the obligation of any government to its people.
But the way you phrased it makes it sound like some conspiracy. Thats cool, Ive always had a hunch that the US and Poland are making an army of gerbil-ninjas to infiltrate Soviet, errrr, Russian air ducts and kill their leaders.

The only thing I find weird about the sudden missle setup is that the build was delayed for a long time, and suddenly It was agreed while the Russian-Georgian conflict is going on.[QUOTE="mamkem6"]This shield is directly directed against Russia. What did Russia do that the United States hasn't done in the last five years? We invaded two countries and are occupying both of them. Russia on the other hand has only invaded one country and has only occupied one third of it. A country that has a close history with Russia and where in South Ossetia there are 90% Russians. South Ossetia has been independent since 1992, they have been running things themselves since then. Then all of a sudden Georgia comes along and wants that area back and invades it. Russia retaliates and here we are. Sorry for repeating the events that have led to this point, but I just felt it necessary to drawn the big distinctions between this and what the U.S. has done. Like how the Iraqis didn't want us to invade them, but South Ossetia wanted the help from Russia.
