I've got a samsung myself, I really like it BUT

there are 2 things that bother me:

1) Remote control is fugly

2) The channels change so horribly slow, I can cook a meal in between changing channels

My Samsung wont save any sort of modifications to brightness, tint, color, etc. Every half hour it resets it self to the horrid default settings.

I have this TV and I think it's excellent! The only slightly bad thing is the sound quality from the integral speakers, they're good at low vol but crank it up a bit and they start vibrating and distorting. I play mine through 5:1 surround sound so it's not a problem for me. This TV is just as good, if not better than most of the higher priceed sets I've compared it with. Well worth the $$$

I'm sorry - I can't help myself but - I hate Samsung. I think they make junk. Their stuff always looks cool and is cheaper but it always has problems or breaks down competely.

That seems way too much for what you are getting. To put in perspective, I got the Samsung 4061F just after boxing day for $1299 (just $300 more than what you are talking about) from Best Buy, 40" 1080p (no free DVD player), and an HDMI cord thrown in. It was a wicked sale, granted, but if you have patience you can get alot more TV for your dollar than that.
