I would shoot the person who put that up.
Who the hell has the soul to ruin Christmas like that?
It's not about the gifts, its about the Christmas Spirit!
I don't think they're trying to get people to stop telling their kids about Santa. They just want them to stop telling lies about Santa. Namely, the lie that Santa rewards nice kids, and gives lumps of coal to naughty ones. The lesson here, is that kids shouldn't worry about being naughty or nice... instead, they just need to do whatever it takes to get rich.
Instead, give them the awful truthI don't think they're trying to get people to stop telling their kids about Santa. They just want them to stop telling lies about Santa.

I'll see your truth, and respond with TRUTH.
...personally, I prefer the teachings of Saint Nicholas which are actually true. :wink:mindstormWait, what!?
I agree. He came into my room when I was 5 and touched me in my special places.RedruM_IYou have Santa mixed up with Roman Polanski

Roman would have left some fancy champagne but Santa always leaves a lump of coal. Frankly I think that Santa was genius by realising that future generations won't be having coal therefore handing it out in hopes that the children today will give hopes to their children that Santa is the solution of the diminishing fossil fuels probelm.
[QUOTE="mindstorm"]...personally, I prefer the teachings of Saint Nicholas which are actually true. :wink:Razor-LazorWait, what!? The story of Santa Claus is based on Saint Nicholas (aka Saint Nick).
He gained an inheritance and was known to be a gift-giver, especially to children whose parents could not afford them gifts. He's always been revered in Orthodox and Catholic traditions. Many Protestants have always tried to stay way from revering saints of past. These days, the idea of Saint Nicholas is mostly commercialized.

It was a joke. :PWhy can't people just STFU and not ruin the holidays for everyone.

Santa is evil. This BBC articlepoints to the weird origins of the Christmas we know, including how hallucinogenic mushrooms influenced things.

I'm actually going to disagree with some of what was said in the article especially in regards to the historicity of Saint Nicholas. While I could be wrong, I've never come across anything that would state that he never actually existed. There is even a chance that he literally punched Arius, the one responsible for the Arian Controversy around year A.D. 325.Of all the causes the money for that billboard could have gone for, this is what they chose to get torqued up over? Really..?xaos
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that was in the US somewhere right? It's like when PETA comes up to me and tries to get me to sign something i say "Nope...I'm gonna make sure PEOPLE are treated humanely before I go worrying about someone wearing fur..."

This articlefrom the Chicago Tribune states that "Many anthropologist types see Santa as a modern descendant of Thor" too.
This Christmas site also suggests: "Most religious historians and experts in folklore believe that there is no valid evidence to indicate that St. Nicholas ever existed as a human. In fact, there are quite a few indicators that his life story was simply recycled from those of Pagan gods."
Do you think religious literature that describes him walking on water and re-assembing the mutilated would also cast any doubt over his existence as a saint?
SANTA ISNT REAL!?!?!?! :cry:curono
Don't listen to them! If I didn't exist, I wouldn't be posting this would I?What do you mean Santa doesn't exist??!
