I'd say House of Leaves. It really plays on your fear of the unknown.

The Shining was creepy... but I don't read scary books much so that tops it for me.

1. Pet Semetary by Stephen King

2. Hell House by Richard Matheson

3. House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski

4. Ghost Story by Peter Straub

5. On The Beach by Nevil Shute

Those are the only book that have come close to scaring me or creeping me out.

When I was a child I used to be obsessed with spooking, and scaring myself. I was a child..it was fun... :D I use to read Edgar Allan Poe, and lotz of Goosebumps books too. It was around the 4th grade.

The Hot Zone. It was terrifying. And incredibly interesting at the same time.
