I got the Kozan Spyware Seige Virus of Death implanted on my computer and it was really hidden in there, norton, spy sweeper, and windows search could not find it. After forty five minutes I went to internet options and changed the little box that had all the weird coding to read www *dot* msn *dot* com (homepage bar) and lol I purged the spyware off the internet and I could acces the internet. It also apparently put it into the open or something because out spyware detector found it right away. Also when the internet was seized there was a picture of a dog with a boner....

Anyone else get that spyware?

That's strange, but luckily with my computer I never get viruses (and I have Norton on there so I'm extra protected).

Half-Life_man

A flashdisk would be better, they come pretty cheap now. Back on topic now, I've never had viruses do that. I had one that put an icon in my desktop that said to fix spyware problems click here. It was easily taken care of luckily.

Don't trust floppies. E-mail it to yourself and/or put it on a cd.

That's a fact. I think it's detection rates were like 99.9% last time I checked. Unfortunately it's not free like Avast.

There are always viruses that can get in. If somebody codes a new virus and the Anti-Virus doesn't now it yet it will swoop right in

That's why most AV programs have heuristics. Even without seeing every virus they are able to stop most of them.

Norton is terrible. To compensate for the breaches in their software they have bloated their code to an enormous size which hogs more resources than it should. Also, a good rule of thumb for AV programs; don't go with the most popular one because it will be the prefered AV targeted by the malware creators.

um maybe your upset because you think it's a Completely Kepp All Harmful Stuff From Your Computer program but it's antivirus  so spyware and worms are allowed. Norton + Spy Sweeper + commen sense = all you need

Indeed, heuristics will be a powerful tool. However Kaspersky's high ratings are based on its known virus database. It is a good product but others like NOD32 provide better heuristics protection.

Lol, no I don't think that it is an all in one solution, but again if you get their all in one solution (Norton internet security) that is going to be more resources used up than the AV alone. Like a few of the other users said get Kaspersky or failing that Tend Mico's PCcillian. No need to buy spysweepers, the free ones out there will work fine. Spybot S&D and Hijack this are great.

Thats why Nod32 is good. So far it's updated about 12 times today.

I use Avast anti-virus in case all of Vista's much-touted security features let me down. Probably the best free anti-virus I've used, since I don't want to buy an anti-virus program. Speaking of Vista's security, there are many advancements over XP that weren't mentioned, assuming this chart is correct.
