Scenario: All internet and cellphone related technoligies have stopped working

So, all internet and cellphone related technoligies have stopped working and cannot be restored until at least 5 years. My question is, Do you personally believe that society would be able to function or not?

society will adapt eventually but the backlash is going to be extremely nasty. I'd imagine the massive economic damage caused by such an event would be extremely catastrophic and that in all liklihood the amount of time that it takes to recover the financial losses will extend to beyond the presumed 5 year period that it would take to get the tech back up and running.

Not at all, and I certainly wouldn't be able to live with myself either. I mean... a person can only go for such a long time being starved of MMO juice.

Without the internet and cellphones...life would get pretty boring pretty quick. Business would slow to a halt for a little while.

If all computerchips had stopped working, we also wouldn't have running water nor electricity. It would be really dark at night, and cars would fail to function because most cars today have computer chips in them to run their basic functions. Without vehicles, there would be no transport of food, and humans would die of malnutrition long before we found efficient ways to transport everything.

i disagree about your statement of the car have computer chips, true that todays car have em but your forgetting that transport vehicles like trucks are bare bone driving, so no complicated TCS ABS and Suspention controls.

With no computers to monitor how much water an electricity is flowing out, would the companies just give away these accomidations for free? Or just shut them off to avoid losing too much money?

I think all modern vehicles have microchip ECUs, so I assume any automobile would go haywire if the chip died.F1_2004
