Well I was being silly but seriously you can't aim nukes at a planet because 1. ICBMs can't leave the dang planet. 2. It would be pretty pointless as getting a physical object there (assuming there is outside our solar system) would take FOREVER.

Bring them here. Then we discover that an alien virus got into our enviroment accidently. We cannot stop it and then we die horrible deaths. The aliens move to our planet and then they discover that they cannot live on our planets enviorment and then they leave. The aleins began to mutate on there home world. they eventully die off because of sun. Their bodies were not use to being that close to the sun and they develop a form of alien diesease like cancer only that it is contagious.
there are probably aliens, but not necessarily intelligent aliens. how many quadrillians upon quadrillions of different phylogenies could have happened just here on earth?
I would think that the government would try to study them or learn about them. Unless they were intelligent life forms who could talk and all that then we would probably try to ally with them.

How would we react? Didn't you hear? We found an alien planet full of exotic resources that are ruled by large, bug-like creatures and have been working with other aliens, called the Sagitarians from the Sagitarius constellation, in an alliance to take over the bug planet. They have more advanced jet propulsion tech than us, but They came to us because they realized that, although it takes humans a long time to advance our technologies, we have more than enough capacity to be building ships and weapons on their scale so long as we're told how to do it. Plus, as animals, humans are more robust and are more agile. I don't know if you've seen these Sagitarians but they're sort of skinny and pathetic.

Scenario: government has known this for 50 years.
A lot of people have known this.. but then some believe and others don't.
I remember on the news here in Australia they reported that life was found.. a metor that hit earth was found to have a plant life growing on it "which proved life does exist out there".. that was the only report made. It was a small segment on the news on tv.. i was dissapointed that no follow up story was made.. which would show how the government shows its power and would have stopped any more info leaking out about it.

There is no chance that aliens would look like us.
Depends on what sort of aliens they are. They could be anything from microbial lifeforms (in which case we would just collect samples and study them), or for all we know they could be planet sized entities that can survive the vacuum of space and travel about the galaxy/universe independent of planets, and could send an asteroid capable of killing all life on Earth our way simply by sneezing.

Yes, about this. The basic idea of the scientific community right now is that there ARE planets, at least some, that are just like ours, which would imply they would have humans, be they more advance or less advanced. Basically the general concenus is that saying that there are no other earth-like planets out there is like saying Saturn is the only planet with rings. Just as there other planets with resources like iron and nickel, so are there other humans, or even dinosaurs, or maybe a planet full of homo-erectus'.

You mean what would happen if the public was told that e.t.s exist.Scientists would be fascinated,religious people would call them demons.racists would asplode.
If i were an alien, and i tapped into the messages of this board via internet satelite. I would probably drop an asteriod on every IP address screaming nuke. If their governments discovered me i would send agents down to infiltrate and hinder advancement in space related technolofies until that species developed more spiritually.
on the other hand, if announcements were made publically about the existence of alien life forms some people just wouldnt be able to handle it.

Lol, if we found intelligent life on another planet, I say we learn about their new technology and culture....(then if the world is xenophobic enough I guess we can nuke them :|)
if it's just a wierd species we found on another planet, then I say we stay there and research for a while, or if they are able to live on earth, we can capture about 10 of them, and then breed them and we can have alien pets!
IMO it's very important in the discussion. I would just like to see the reaction as it goes against all major relgious texts. But I'll drop it, there are plenty of religious threads. But I think it would be like everyone was in a fog for a few weeks, trying to figure out what the hell to do next.
