wats the point of going to school they dont teach us anything, i think the only reason we have to go to school is because they want us to be occupied wit something so that kids wont go crazy and do stupid stuff. The only thing that keeps me in school is sports if my school didnt have sports i would have probably never went. maybe if school wasnt so damn long kids wouldnt be cutting and dropping out, kids have lives why cant they understand that

Think about if you woke up tomorrow andhad to enter the real world. You don't know a damn thing that would help you to be successful, now pipe down and stay in school.

Well, in actually, school is important for a couple of reasons:

1. They teach you how to read
2. They teach you how to write
3. They teach you how to count
4. They teach you your history
5. They teach you about science
6. They teach you about music

Believe it or not, our lives will be run by education. It's true that High SChool is complete BS, but once your in college, that's when the REAL education process begins. Trust me, when you get to college, you'll be glad you finished high school (even High school is pointless. In college, they teach you pretty much the same stuff you learned in high school, except with better teaching methods and less red tape).

There is a lot of things you can learn in school. If you haven't learned anything from it then you aren't paying enough attention:P

School is the worst. Who needs school, anyway? I say we eliminate it and go back to the old ways of life.

THe one complaint I do have about our education system is that they teach you too much about conformity and not enough on expanding one's minds beyond what's required.

Define an onomatopoeia.

What is the rate of acceleration due to the force of gravity?

Convert 219 degrees to radians without using a calculator.

What year was Canada declared a country?

How many seconds in a fortnight?

If there is even one of those that you can't answer, your post will be insta-wrong'd. (To everyone else, I'm aware that each one of those questions is moronically easy. That's the point.)

The reason I love school is cos I get to see my mates everyday. On the other hand there's the homework. But at least it keeps you busy.

I do learn stuff at school.

Still, it's an incredibly flawed system that every other successive parts of your life depends on. Bad in middle school, go to a bad high school, colleges don't see a great high school on your transcript and no very good college, no very good college and your career changes drastically. So essentially according to this education system, how you perform in middle school a la how you perform at age 11-14 can have a significant impact on how your career turns out.

if u look at school like that then obviously you dont want to learn. i want a career in sports but that doesnt mean i can't do good in school and learn. u do realize that after school there are things called careers which help u contribute to society right?

Exactly. I screwed up in Middle School and it affected my high school experience that I can never get back. In fact, I'm still fighting it. It's gotten to the point where I've decided to get a head start on college by going to a community college that doesn't require a high school diploma and finish up my high school diploma requirements at an adult school.

School in its later years is quite pointless, High School for example teaches you nothing you either already don't know or won't really ever need to know unless you want to be a teacher. I've learned more since leaving school thanks to the internet, granted without the basic school tutiton i.e learning to read, write & count. I wouldn't of been able to. But i learned how do to all that by the time i was 6, not really as well as i can now, but i had the basics, by the time i left school at the tender age of 12, i knew how to count, read, write and if i didn't i knew you could ask someone and then you would know. Then i went to high school and didn't really learn anything, apart from memorising answers, first two years of high school was basically "Okay, this is what will be expect of you when you do exams and such so lets just run through it all" the third year was just preperation for exams and the final year was either preparing people for more exams while giving them options of what they could do when they leave school.

As you can tell i left school and learned a hell of a lot more through the internet in about 6 months than i did at school for those 4 years...

Schools are also pressing oppresing to a kid, i mean you essentially have to conform to their image of a student and can only go down there set tracks, i mean if they wanted the exceptional students they claim you'd think they would at least give some freedom for unique talents or at least give some different approaches...

lol. If somebody wants to be a doctor, why does he need science? Thats not even worth a response. But maybe its because a doctors entire career revolves around science...just a guess.

History and SCIENCE is pretty useless? Okay...either way, in High School you don't know what you're going to be, so learning all of them covers all the possibilities. That's why you see people in college only majoring in medicine and taking no history (after freshman year).

science improves your thinking, enlarges your scope of vision, math mobilizes your brain cells and makes you smarter. Basically the more you know the quicker and easier you will know further, and better your decision making ability will be, which really helps your life because you make decisions everyday.

English, Math and the Sciences (Physics, Bio, Chem) have something to do with almost everything, which is why they're the main grades looked at by College/University's.

The "useless" classes are all almost completely optional by the last year of HS.

Let's see how far you can go without a diploma.
