People die of the flu. What's your point?

My point is we dont have a cure for cancer. Are you saying the flu and cancer are on the same level. Im sure more people die of cancer than the flu.Bone marrow transplants. There was a story a few months back about an AIDS patient who also had leukemia. He got a bone marrow transplant to cure the leukemia, and his AIDS was gone too after the operation.Unexciting news is unexciting. PM me when there's a cure for AIDS.

If cancer is cured how come so many people die of it each year?It doesn't have a 100% success rate and you have to catch it early enough. Doesnt sound like much of a cure. What if we dont catch it early? Person dies. Im sure if someone close to you found cancer in its late form you would be wishing we had a cure.We've been curing cancer for decades. :|

It's just quoting an article in NewScientist, which is not exactly as disreputable a source.

Wow, a two year old article.
There's a letter from the doctor spearheading the research from October of 2008. It sounds as though clinical tests of the drug are still in progress, but that thus far results appear promising. I don't think it's so much that no one's paying attention to this, but rather that it's not ready for widespread application yet due to the fact that they do not yet understand the possible side effects and the possible interactions with other drugs.
Certainly something to perhaps keep one's eye on.

Like I just said, bone marrow transplants cure AIDS. Link The problem is that the procedure kills 30% of patients anyway, and may require a special mutation in the donor's marrow.[QUOTE="Sway-"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]It doesn't have a 100% success rate and you have to catch it early enough.

Hmmm, but is surgical removal of a tumor really a "cure"? It's a solution, no doubt, but can that be considered a cure for cancer?
Not true. My grandfather had colon cancer in the early 1990's and underwent surgery to get rid of it. It is now 17 years later and it hasn't come back and he doesn't have treatment for it. Some cancers can be cut out.[QUOTE="MoonMarvel"]
[QUOTE="Shiggums"]
Actually, cancer has yet to be curable. They can treat it, even put it in remission, but it's not gone, and eventually it comes back (unless the cancer sufferer continues persistent treatment to keep it at bay)Shiggums

I never said it was a cure, just that your comment that it will come back unless under persistent treatment isn't true. Some yes, but not all. Depends on the type. Colon Cancer if caught early can be removed, same with Skin and Lung.[QUOTE="Pirate700"]Nobody said it was a great cure. But it can be cured unlike something like AIDs currently. But you can control whether you get it or not most of the time. But with cancer you cant stop yourself from getting it.samuraiguns
