Scientology..... Religion or Cult?

Do you feel that Scientology is a valid "religion" or just a type of mind washing cult like Heavens Gate?

I'd argue that. Most of those storys are not even relevant to today....At the base of it they might, (keyword might), have some good moral teachings...but you need the bible for that?

Lol who said i have not read the bible? Just because i disagree with it? Wouldnt i have to have read it to disagree with it?

But i WAS just joking...but its not on you. I just find it frightening that people can vote for someone (im not saying you) based solely on their religion. And believe me thats what happened with President Bush, and thats whats happening with McCain and Palin. I LIVE next to people who state this.

Its pretty much the same as any other religion. The only diference is that it isn't mainstream, so people can get away with ridiculing their beliefs.mattyftm

US goverment is a nation not an organisation, organisation includes companies and charities and such.

Though the american goverment dosn't have as much money as you think as they owe trillions to china

true but it dosn't really import or export much, most of it's wealth comes from shares and such, acording to the internet they hold at least $500million in shares in the US alone and have milliions of dollers worth of gold held in the federal reserve, swiss and london banks

If you think about it, the only difference between a religion and a cult is social acceptance.

Although beilieveing in a man in the heavens creating exsistence in 7 days and believing in alien souls being trapped in a volcano by an alien overlord are quite different. Again South Park hit in on the head with that one. But still there both pretty tall tales to have faith in.

The way they treat their own members and non-members.

For example, a cult may remove its members from friends or family that are not of that cult (Scientology does this). A cult could also control a member's finances and information.
