Let's talk about the first episode of Dexter. There may or may not be a thread of this else where, but, some people complain that I bump threads that are a little old so I deceided to make a new one.

First, I'm going to share my opinion with you.

Episode 1, of season 5, was terrible. Complete Trash.

Now I have to tell you why.

Basicly, the show hasn't changed. Dexter is still conflicted. Am I a human? Am I monster? do I have feelings, do I care about people. He starts to flee, then is pulled back in again. NOTHING has changed. Absolutely nothing. His character hasn't become more complicated, or evolved in any way. He simply has new circumstances, and he responds to them how? Exactly the same was as he always has. He has no idea what he's doing, and he isn't any closer to any form of resolution with his unique state of mind. But that's all it is then. Every season we get to watch dexter question himself, start to run away, then come back, to do what.. eventualy run away again. Big deal.

This show is seriously lacking in depth. IT gives the apperance of depth, but, it's just an apperance. Dexter hasn't evolved. It's the same show it always was.

EMOEVOLUTION

Because the Dexter in season one is the same character in season four.

The whole point of the premiere was to show how Rita's death effected Dexter, reverting him back to his primal instincts. This was obvious from the flashbacks when Dexter first met Rita. I don't know how you can't notice a difference between him then and when he was married to Rita.

It's only the first episode give the writers a break they can only make so much change to a chatacter in an hour. if he changed too fast you'd still say it sucked. give it a chance

i love dexter. i hope they plan to evolve dexter's character more in this season, the code he lives by is pretty cool and all but seeing him beat the living shet out of that man was awesome, and i would still love and care for michael c hall's character if he decided to start killing people for his own amusement, even though i can see why a lot of people wouldn't like that. he is a serial killer at heart and seeing him get away with murder is what i watch the show for, more so than his moral dilemmas.

There's a huge difference.... I'm surprised the TC cannot see it.

It was a bit boring, but all first episodes are, give it time.
