Can you speak a second language fluently or are you learning one? If you're learning, why are you learning it? If you are fluent in a second language, does this help at any time?

I am learning Spanish and I'm actually in Spanish IV right now, which is a college course. I'm a sophomore, so I feel pretty good about myself. Haha. I'm learning it because I needed the credits for a university, but I've already gotten all of those, now I'm just taking it to get fluent. If you are fluent in a second language, you can get paid more at a job.

Same here. Enough to understand it fluently. Not enough to speak it that fluently. Weird? Nah.

I know Spanish (I should, though, I'm Puerto Rican). I've also taken two semesters of Italian in college, but it's starting to leave me since I barely use what I've learned.

My mothertongue is danish, no not the pastry, and I think my english is fairly good. I was taught german aswell in school, but I forgot half of my vocabulary, so now I can barely order a soda and some fries xD

I'm thinking of perhaps taking Italian when I'm done with my tenth grade and know what to do with my life...

Right now only English but i can read and write in Spanish but idk wth people are saying to me and its sad because both my parents speak Spanish but they never taught me and I'm Puerto Rican, but I'm studying Spanish now and I think i can say a lot of stuff so a native could understand me, but I wouldn't understand them unless they spoke slowly.... :(

Does anybody have any learning tips?

I live with my mom only and she hates her spanish because its "improper" so she refuses to speak to me in Spanish, but she speaks to all of her other friends in Spanish. She doesn't want me learning Street NYC Spanish.

I speak English and I'm a French major and Chinese minor. Chinese is very difficult for me to learn (and my class really sucks this year), but it's an interesting language. French is, of course, very helpful for those of us living in Canada :3

I know a tiny bit of german... not nearly enough to survive by, and a small bit of spanish. Yet again, not enough to survive by.

Best thing i can do with german is say the alphabet, and sing a stupid song that basically says 'im an out of towner and dont speak good german' ... ich bin ouslander und spreken neict gut deutch. .... LMFAO i know i spelled probably all that wrong but you get the idea.

And spanish "Tengo perro coma un gato" i have a dog and it at a cat (i think lol). Just some stupid spanish stuff.

I know a few curse phrases and stupid phrases too.. not by heart but on paper somewhere. lol. They are fun to yell out the window at strangers.

I speak English fluently, I know basic French and can read it better than speak it, and I know basic Japanese (been studying it in school the last 2 years and can read/write Hiragana and Katankana but not many Kanji)
