what is it with that show that makes it so popular? I saw it and it was boring, jokes were predictable, and weren't even funny, and the laugh track kept on laughing at things that just weren't funny

Its an awesome show that discussed just about every real life topic there was to discuss. The jokes were typically very funny, and the characters were great and well developed.

It is an "acquired taste." Not everyone can appreciate "the show about nothing" style of comedy.

it is easily one of the best shows of all time. I own seasons 1-7 on DVD :).

I'm also a huge fan of Friends though. I've really been watching a lot of it lately.

So.. back on topic... Generally people have to have a very twisted and dry sense of humor to enjoy "the show about nothing" style. I personally think that the show is hilarious, I even have a relative Canadian series that I got from my cousins, "Corner Gas", yeah the jokes are terrible, predictable and weird sometimes, but I think that's what makes it hilarious.

Seinfeld was good because it was about "nothing" (also they always seemed to be in a hell of a lot of trouble for a bunch of people doing nothing). Other shows that try to shove drama or comedy down our throats... usually fail, Seinfeld was kinda "Well people will like it, or they won't, we're not going to make them like it." I've seen Corner Gas too, it has a little of the same idea. Generally not a lot is going on, the comedy is a little more "there" but it's still... calm, and not "GET READY FOR A JOKE" "THERE WAS THE JOKE" "LAUGH AT THE JOKE," it's more like a life situation where things are funny, but instead of looking back and laughing you realise it's funny as it happens because you're watching it. Hope that made sense. o.O

Well, you have to understand the characters to understand the funnay. Though, I'll have to say, some of the later episodes were quite lame.
