Seriously, why is everyone so obsessed with the world ending in 2012??

I know the world doesn't actually end, everyone would just die out if something actually happened but why is everyone so obsessed with the world ending?? No body ever predicted the world would end in 2012, so why is everyone freaking out?? It's really annoying.

Think of how stupid this sounds, people believe planet X will collide with the earth, people actually believe theres another planet in our solar system that no ones discovered yet. Give me a break!! People believe a black hole will swallow the earth, people also believe a polar shift will happen. I mean come on seriously?? Just because the Mayans calender ended in 2012 doesn't mean all these things are going to just magically happen in 2012.

Humans can't predict the end of the world so stop trying to predict these silly things.

So why is everyone going so crazy over this?? Do that many people really have nothing better to do with their lives then be obsessed with the world ending?

Maybe people just need a little edge-of-your-seat suspense to spice up their boring as hell lives.
