Females: No common sense or street smarts, but got way more book smarts
Males: More of a common sense and street smarts kinda thing, damn near no book smarts.
Once again, this also isn't intended to offend anyone, it's just a typical "stereotype" and TC did say in my experience, because I know men and women who completely bust my little "theory" up there, but, that's just the way I've always seen it.
So basically, IT'S A TIE! It's perfectly balanced out. I'll vote women since they have the book smarts.
ElArab
I've met women with common sense and street smarts and I've also met men with neither. Same with book smarts...it depends entirely ON THE INDIVIDUAL...not the sex.

I KNOW DAMNIT!!! I SAID THAT!! RE-READ THE BOLDED PART!!! WHY AM I YELLING?! Anyway, I know it's all about the individual, I just thought TC meant "if it comes down to just gender, which one is more intelligent"
In that case...it's a tie.
What a let down, I thought this thread would be about if having more sex improved intelligence.KG86
Thats what I thought too...

It may not apply to every man and woman, but his conclusion is valid none-the-less, at least to him and this poll.[QUOTE="ElArab"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="ElArab"]Females: No common sense or street smarts, but got way more book smarts

His hypothesis is completely valid, since it has neither been proved nor has it been disproved. His conclusion led him to a generalization, which are not always bad.Females: No common sense or street smarts, but got way more book smarts

saying males have no book smarts is pretty stupid when you take into account the amount of doctors, programmers, engineers, biologists, chemists and so forth.

That's it, I'm deleting my post, everyone is just assuming I'm some sexist idiot with no sense of reality and not everyone is reading the whole damn post.

Average IQ test scores are roughly the same. Guys tend to do better in math and science while girls tend to do better in English and history.CptJSparrow
I think I remember some Harvard professor getting in trouble for saying that last year... but I don't remember the entire story.
A "sex" is not more intelligent than another sex, a person is more intelligent than another. Sexism FTL...Cube_of_MooN
There are things men are better at then women, and there are things women are better at then men. To not admit this is to not face the truth. To make this slanderous is cowardly.

Science has not been able to prove that one sex is more intelligent than the other....with good reason...so to state otherwise is slanderous.;)

I don't think science has been able to prove and disprove many other things too. The best we can look at is statistics, assuming that there really is a difference in gender other than sex.

Perhaps you should read my post again. I never said he had proof of his claim. I did, however, say that his experience was enough for his own mind and this poll. This is not a scientific study, mind you. This answers are based on personal experience, and his experience is pointed him toward a conclusion. From my own experience, I totally disagree with him. But I still accept that his opinion is valid, which you obviously do not.[QUOTE="RoyWilson"][QUOTE="Cube_of_MooN"]A "sex" is not more intelligent than another sex, a person is more intelligent than another. If someone-- or a group of people-- has superior intelliegence, they are in some way better at thinking.Yes, cowardly. Some people are too fearful of offending someone. So, instead of embracing differences, they make them out to be "wrong", "prejudiced", and "sexist".
Historically there have been many more male geniuses than female geniuses, but that does not necessarily imply a superiority of intelligence. Women have had their rights repressed for millennia after all, resulting in a stunted potential for female thinkers in the past.
that said, you don't have far too many famous female thinkers compared to male thinkers, at least from a historical figure perspective.

Of course it's a generalization, considering the what the question is everyone should know when they click on this thread that there is no scientific answer and that this does not apply to everyone. It's just a thread for people to say what they have seen personally.

I'm not afraid of offending anyone... In my mind, claiming one sex is inherintly more intelligent than another is mildly sexist. Don't confuse disagreement with cowardice...
The thread was about which gender is more intelligent. You can argue men are better than moman at math/science, and that's fine. Still, I do not think either gender is "better at thinking," that is just ridiculous.

It is not the differing of opinions that is cowardly. It is the fact that the question is, under current society, deemed sexist. I do not blame the poster, and I doubt he is a coward.
