It's true. Being in love is like being high, and the break up it's justa period of withdawal. When you "love" someone you're willing to do thinks you wouldn't normally do (humilliate yourself, be submissive, tolerate stuff from him/her you wouldn't take from anyone else, etc) because it's our natural state to be with someone. This is merely instinct. And we're just following nature's guideline to a happy and normal life as members of our species. But think how much is wasted in the porsuit of love/sex (some people can't tell the difference between looking for "the one" and trying to get laid). Who hasn't been "dumped" (never really liked that word, it's like saying you're trash...)? And people just consider all that pain to be "normal". Precious time that could be spent studying, meditating, doing art, curing diseases and improving ourselves. Instead of doing that, we choose to waste our time doing what's natural. What has nature done for us lately? The Tsunami, Katrina, earthquakes and the fact that at any given time a rock from outer space could kill us all.

Yes, sex and love are very comparable to natural disasters. Brilliant metaphor! Have you ever been in love?

You obviously have never been in a true, loving relationship. That, or you recently broke up with someone you loved...

This compares almost perfectly with the story of Shadow of the Colossus... "we will do anything for love"

It is our lot in life to reproduce sexually, if we do not, our genes die with us. Sure, we can get competitive, but then again, we are animals.

I don't think you'd still be able to produce the hormones to love someone in the way that he is talking about.

The way he's talking about, you're right, but in true love (excuse the fairytaleish term) it wouldn't matter.

I don't know. Of course you could love them in a fraternal/platonic way, but not in a romantic way . . . I'm guessing. Btw, what's the pic in your sig? Is that the dude's head near the left?

Go out and experience it. Everyone has a different definition of it. Some say if you love something you have to let it go from you. Others say it's very similar to hurricanes. Depends.

Humanity has pretty much basic stuff about it but modern women have a ton of pressure on them and I don't think they know it. A soul can crack if it knows better, look at Plato. He cracked.

Brother, you ain't kidding. I would without a doubt kill for those I love. People screwing with those you care for unleashes a rage within a person that'd make satan himself go wide-eyed. I suppose it's primal nature to protect whats yours... but man oh man. Don't go there with anyone if you can help it.

i disagree, a mature relationship doesn't mean tolerating things you wouldn't necessarily tolerate or making a fool of yourself trying to make them happy. Maybe at first you do "crazy" things but once you really get to know eachother & have a real mature relationship you dont do foolish things.

Well everyone is different and obviously experience different things. You might just need to wait for true love, or maybe thats what you are destined to be....although all my friends who are single say love isnt important T_T

Anyways, for me love has made my life so much easier and so much more worth living. I have someone to always have my back, and I will always have his. Cuddles are great though!:D

The Tsunami, Katrina, earthquakes and the fact that at any given time a rock from outer space could kill us all.jm4847

How can you compare Earthquakes and Hurricanes to Love/Sex? Dude, your un drugs lol

Or he's doing it wrong :(

[QUOTE="Laserwolf65"]dude, just because you have a crappy love life doesn't mean that love sucksjm4847
I don't have a crappy life. I've just realized that life without love is soooooooooo much easier.

He didn't say a crappy life; he said a crappy LOVE life. Based on your description of love, I don't see how you can contest that. Try getting involved with people who are less crazy-making. For me, I've only been in two relationships, but that's just because I have a very low threahold for putting up with people's crap.

I've dated around most of my life, had a few serious relationships... for me the only kind of love I want anymore is from family. I've been through enough to make me not want to deal with it anymore, I've been single for 2 and a half years and I have not regretted the decision, and I've been overall a more happy person since deciding to "go solo"

Yes, because loved ones don't have occupations  They contribute nothing to society and don't accomplish anything.

It gets pretty scary when you say "Yes, hunny, I will go visit your parents with you..." and you know full well that his dad is satan and wants to own your soul :( *fears her father in law*)

Love is GREAT and frustrating at the same time... I wouldn't want to miss it.

"This is merely instinct. And we're just following nature's guideline to a happy and normal life as members of our species." Actually, it's nature's guideline to keep our species alive, not to make the induvidual happy. Erasorn

I dont think its instict. I think to an extent jealousy is an instinct but I think people follow what television & movie relationships look like. They think its ok to be jealous & controlling. & Its ok to ONLY care about one person & to put them above everybody else. But thats wrong. Of course they are on another level but you shouldn't put them above your friends and family. & jealousy is what ruins relationships for the most part. What most of the world thinks relationships should be like is really just a replay of a crappy movie that doesn't work out the same in the end.
