I just remember a lot of drama back in the day. There were a lot of alts. Hard to tell who was who and who wasn't who. I dunno, have things changed?

At least I made some friends. Though I lost contact with most of them after I quit.

Ehh, well I haven't been here very long so don't have any interesting or dramatic moments to share.

Did really enjoy following the World Cup last year with all the folks in OT though, that was great.

Gerstmann Gate, Lair flopping, E3 memes, Ratchet and Clank flopping....oh god all the PS3 floppings, FFXIII going multiplatform. The endless toxicity. Unions.

Oh and I completely forgot, the best time period GS ever had which was the period where you could swear and we also had GS Off-topic After Hours.

That brief time people were making video chat groups for OT. Somebody should host something like that again.

And my favorite thing on the internet at the time, the picture of BlurayHiDef wearing the Dr. Manhattan mask.

The movie union where this crackpot got upset because I said that all Australian cinemas here were powered by someone riding a penny-farthing bicycle haha!

Oh wow, Lair... I remember that. I ended up getting it anyway, and was really disappointed by it. And yeah, really miss unions.

I liked it when BlackBalls threatened to close his account if some game scored a certain score or not, or something. It was crazy.

Can't remember if he closed it or not... Good times. *nostalgic sigh*

Technically, a cube has sides of equal dimensions, so the only giant cube that exists is the GameCube... although it's not really that giant.

@JustPlainLucas: a cuboid just means, like a cube, with equal sides. A rectangle or oblong denotes a shape with uneven adjacent sides and four right angles.

I do not know the 3d term for this kind of shape.

The layout c. 2003 was pretty cool. Also, anyone remember the version of this site accessible from Wii's Internet Channel complete with the ability to rate games via twisting your Wiimote? Good times...

Unions. I had a lot of fun in the Atheism Union. Another fond memory I have is Sony's press conference in 2006. Riiiiidge Raaaacer, giant enemy crab, attack the weak point for massive damage, $599 US dollars. *sigh* good times. :)

Oh. I remember that time I won a signed copy from Sid Myer of Civ 5. That was pretty cool.

I did lurk back in GS around 2011 but I hardly remember anything going on from that cause I was mostly still with IGN before I left completely for good.

I think the best moments of GS is SNIPER when he was trolling System Wars and even making clones out of users as well. SNIPER was so fun to follow, even he gave the Mods a run for his money when it comes to trolling and that my friends is what we called real trolling. These Jokers wannabes don't know how to troll lol. SNIPER was the best moments of GS.

That whole thing was beyond stupid and BlackBalls biggest mistake was not using the Metric score and not GS review score. I know alot of SW users had fun with it but I wasn't entertained at all and now with BlackBalls gone, you got that foolish Boxrekt guy taking over! It has become very clear to me SW isn't as good as it used to be!

This was a ways back so I doubt if anyone would recall, but there was once this user called Black Regiment (and another who supported him that I can't quite recall his handle). He was a christian and constantly started threads about theism, about going to Hell and being saved. At the same time, a user by the name of Pianist (one of the better posters I've seen frequent this site who could articulate excellent arguments) would confront him on his points, and they'd get into huge exchanges. I enjoyed the debates so much I printed them out and still have them somewhere.

A while ago though, probably 10-15 years so I doubt anyone recalls. Good times. IIRC Black Regiment got banned, as his style was extremely judgmental and aggressive. I remeber the mods continually warning him and then one day he was gone.

A lot of old users posting in this thread...

When you had to bookmark a topic in OT to be able to follow/reply in it, or it would be lost in pg 2/3 in 20-30 mins. Now you can go on holidays for a month and still find the topic on pg 2/3.

I wonder if in 50 years, if Gamespot is still around, if any of us here now will still be posting and be regarded as venerable sages by the newer users?

Oh and remember Gamespot UK? And remember when IGN had a... ahem..."softcore" section?

These sites were so much more interesting and complex back then. Getting rid of the points and levels system was madness. For one.
