I just came back from it about 15 minutes ago. Not true to the books at all, completely dumbed down in every aspect, over produced Hollywood crap. God help us if they go ahead with the sequel.
I really pity if adolescents go to see this and actually believe it has anything to do with Conan Doyles Holmes.
I was expecting to hate it, but my friend dragged me to it and it was better than I expected. I'd give it a 5/10 or so. There were some really stupid parts (the whole slow-mo action sequences made me cringe, and RDJ played Holmes like an wannabe eccentric douchebag) but overall it was somewhat entertaining. I'm sure I would hate it if I were more of a Sherlock Holmes fan though.

I've always seen Holmes as the epitome of the English smart arse, so he got that part right.
The film was enjoyable for me. I read like two of the books when I was younger, and they were good. Bit predictable towards the end, like last 25 minutes or so, but it gave me an occasional laugh. I'd give it an 8/10 personally.
Arent you the same person that made that thread claiming D9 was the worst movie youve ever seen? I knew from the trailer that sherlock holmes was going to be horrible because its just a movie to make money, they throw the name Sherlock Holmes on there and its easy money. Just like when they made the last indiana jones movie, that was a piece of crap but everybody went to see it.
Was it at least enjoyable outside the fact that it wasn't true to the source material? Right now it's sounding like the Bourne movies in how it's a good action movie, but any purists from the books should stay away or throw their minds away for the duration of the film.I just came back from it about 15 minutes ago. I love Spill.com. I don't usually agree with their opinions on films, but I don't think their reviews are meant to be taken 100% seriously. Their reviews are just very well done and are entertaining to watch.Nerd_Manwhy because they always show the black cartoon guy scream mumbo jumbo? his mumbo jumbo doesn't even make sense, he just talks fast to cover it up

How did you not know that was coming? I went in to it realizing that it was going to be nothing like the books and thoroughly enjoyed it anyway.
Also, District 9 was awesome.
