In many movies and games, the top two weapons that feature most are really the shotgun and the chainsaw. If in a zombie outbreak which one would you reach for?

Shotgun. Real life shotguns have pretty good range. With chainsaws, you have to be up close, giving you a higher chance of getting bit. Also, if you run out of ammo, the butt of the shotgun can suffice.
Shotgun; far-ranged and and safer. Chainsaw is dangerous and risky, especially when there's a lot of zombies. Also, there is a chance you can infect yourself.
Chainsaw is pretty much useless. You'll get killed faster than without a weapon.
Shotgun is okay, but still not a good choice.

like I said, grav. gun off Half-Life 2, you have a very adaptable weapon+distance. Now if they were real zombies I would just run, if I couldn't, I would kill myself before they got to me.
