[QUOTE="NetYankEagle"][QUOTE="g-unit248"]first of all i find it funny that there is a wrestling hall of fame seeing as how its not real and they are not athletes, but to get to the topic, no way in hell should he be let in, they banned pete rose from the baseball hall of fame andall he did was gamble a little bit, not kill hiswhole familyg-unit248
Athlete-"A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts." Yes wrestlers are athletes probably the most athletic of all sports. Jumping off the top ropes jumping off cages ladders and landing through tables hurt. I dont know if you have ever watched wrestling in your life but you dont see Ropes holding a wrestler from falling off a cage hard. obviously everyone has their own opinions, and i am really not trying to bash an entertainment source that you clearly enjoy, but getting all juiced up on roids and learning how to fall (which is essentially all the stunts are) is not athletic in my book, real wrestlers are definitely athletic, but these people are essentially actors imo
I certainly don't hold this sports entertainment form of wrestling in any high regard, but I won't discount the physical strain it puts on the individual. These men and women are doing this type of thing all throughout the year and there is no denying that they are doing major harm to their bodies.
Just look at Hulk Hogan, he needs cortizone shots in his knees just to be able hop in the ring every so often, not to mention that most of his lower extremidies are probably all reconstructed to some degree.
Sports entertainment wrestlers are definately athletic, they back flip, jump from insane heights and destroy their bodies. I think the one "fight" that made me realise this was the Undertaker/Mankind fight from around '98. Watch that and tell me they aren't athletes.

Trust me, I was a massive skeptic before I saw this and after that I had much more respect for the wrestlers and what they put their bodies through.
