I never liked him...but mainly because he's really scary looking...he should be allowed to say what he wants. Isn't that what the first amendments there for?Mumbles527

most of the time...but not always. not all speech is protected in america, but i believe in his particular case...it should have been.Â

The times when speech isn't protected are all typically cases that are really obvious...like screaming "Fire!" in a crowded place...The radio station hired him to speak out about his opinions and knew he was a shock-jock...they shouldn't have been surprised when he gave a "shocking" opinion

should have been as i stated meant should have been protected. i worded my post poorly...we agree on the topic. i was elaborating on your comment. in short, imus should still be employed.Â
This is by no means newsworthy or even postworthy. He called them "Nappy-headed hoes". He's not commenting on their race, he's commenting on their hairstyle.Eadara

the implication was apparent...he didn't maliciously mean it though.Â
No, his description of the Rutgers team was accurate. They have ugly hair and look like thugs, IMO. ericgold3k
Two thumbs WAY up for that guy!Â

Indeed.
People are so sensitive these days....

I agree, but at the same time I think Don Imus is the last person to be commenting on someone/something's looks. I am glad to see Don Imus fired, but if Adam Corolla or Howard Stern was fired for the same reason, I would be unhappy. I just don't like Don Imus.Â
naw, but he is still a racist moron. And he is still self-centered and a giant phony. metalgearlover
What exactly did he say? the only peice I heard of it was just rude, but not racist.
Yeah I'm glad he is.

You listen to rap. Should rappers who use the word "ho" be banned from radio?
Should Hot 97 be shut down too?Â
The Rutgers team simply should have been bigger than him and forgiven him right away. He's an idiot. But they're idiots for not letting it go. People insult me all the time, I don't holde grudges for weeks and get a man fired.
No. our society is turning into one where people can't say anything. What happened to freedom of speech. Yes, he didn't own the company that was supporting his show, but come on. Why does everyone run around looking for someone to make an example out of? The world neesd more compassion and understanding, and a willingess to help other people grow.
Â
I do not condone what he said, but I don't think of him as a horrible person either. I don't think horrible of anyone, even those who do the most horrible things. People are prone to flaws.. because we design the rules we live by, and so many of them are flawed themselves.Â

Considering he is (well was) being paid to be a radio jockey, I think his rights end at the front door.Â

He called the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy headed ho's". Apparently Nappy headed is racist slang... never mind that he said ho's, but he commented on a hair quality that's only found in African Americans.Â
