No, I don't think that's a good idea. Nothing good comes from a thread without rules, it will only grow to a point where it will require it's own board.
And I thought the point of the no-trolling rules were so we could keep the immature 10-year olds out of Gamespot. A thread like that would destroy everything. Now why exactly would we do that, and what would we gain by doing that?
Well, I suppose we could just let things degrade until we start banning en masse and get rid of 'em all at once... >_>

You could use it as a trap. The ones who post are auto-banned, muahaha! Except now that I've said it, the idea is rendered useless.

Something like that. Still a bad idea all around though. We've already got a board where the trolling rules are loosened up a bit... and they think there aren't any. Not to mention OTers who try to make this place /b/2. :|[QUOTE="MAILER_DAEMON"] /b/2. :|dj_pulserfan
Correction this is /b/2, minus most of the awesome pictures
Oh really? Hmm...Maybe we should make mentioning, hinting at, or taking part in any /b/ fads a bannable offense. And I mean ban, not suspend.

What makes /b/'s fads so wrong to use here? Fads from /b/ can get you banned but fads from GS are fine?[QUOTE="dj_pulserfan"][QUOTE="MAILER_DAEMON"] /b/2. :|MAILER_DAEMON

Oh I've known for a while what many of you have been trying to do. It's the /b/ fans that are responsible for OT getting continually worse for the last 2 years, but they don't want to admit it. I'm not saying that everything that's come from there is a bad thing (YLYL isn't inherantly bad for example), but is it so hard to keep that kind of stuff there? Everyone knows about the place, so there's no point in the precious Rules 1 and 2.Why is it so important to bring it to GS? Why not let GSOT develop its own culture, as it once had?
I don't think the Internet is its own culture, but I don't see how OT has been affected by /b/ very much.Oh I've known for a while what many of you have been trying to do. True, I remember when every other topic was legendary (I've lurked longer than I posted so i finally took the plunge and signed up :P). And in a way it would be hard to keep it off there cause where the OT use to have original content, everything is all "lolol look at this picture" and it's something from /b/! That and the fact every other topic is politics, religion & complaining about homosexuality threads leaves little to no room for what made the OT awesome sadly :(

We have Gamespot Guy, How Do I Look Guy, shoulder touching, Gamespot Puzzles and flashes, and stuff like that. Everything else inevetiably comes from /b/. Most of the funny pictures you see come from four chan. I do miss david_is_basic's photography threads and Shu's lounges though. :(
We even had scoobypat's daily wtfs? and DRUGGIE's squirrel antics. Also illpiercednino's beautiful woman.

it's just, most people here are not trying to be witty or funny most of the time. they're trying very hard to be serious.[QUOTE="dj_pulserfan"]True, I remember when every other topic was legendary (I've lurked longer than I posted so i finally took the plunge and signed up :P). If there were a thread dedicated to trolling, and i posted there with a polite, well-thought-out post - would i be moderated for trolling?
[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"]Isn't it a little early to ask that?If there were a thread dedicated to trolling, and i posted there with a polite, well-thought-out post - would i be moderated for trolling?

But think about; a magical place intending for trolling, where not-trolling is actually trolling.
