Should Gang bangers Join The Military?

-they are already trained with all types of guns

-in shape from constantly running from the cops and working out in prison

-they already know how to work in groups under heavy fire

-this way they could kill and be praised

sure I don't see why not. It beats filling up the prisons with them.

I completely disagree. IMO it will only drag the military into further disripute, and paying a criminal to fight wont teach them lessons about why they are being punished in the first place.

I haven't heard of the specific story you're talking about. But yeah that does happen all the time. But the level that it would happen if the infantry was all gangbangers would be hugly increased.

I'll also add that any Gang Banger in jail has already betrayed the laws written by the country they would be fighting for. It wouldn't make sense to trust them to fight for our freedom!

That's a good reason to not join the military... for you.

But if you actually want to join the army you can get a lot of experience and knowledge from it, if you live.

It also gives people a sense of comraderie. Although I can understand your reasoning, some people would risk it just to get what I just mentioned. That and you get a years untouched wages every year if you conserve your money and living expenses :wink:.

I was thinking of joining some kind of armed force at some point myself...

I'm thinking of joining the army. But I see it as a personal journey and not strictly "me doing something for a paycheck". I could be wrong though.jointed

Sure, it's not a bad idea at all.

What people don't realize is the training they would recieve before going into combat itself. Besides, they would have trained commanders leading them.

I guess I really shouldn't be surprised at the general lack of knowledge and understanding about gangs in this country, but it always does shock me just how deeply many of these half-truths are still embedded in this country's identity after so many people have been working for so long to get a more open dialogue going on the subject.

Anyways, my focus with gangs has always been to rememdy social conditions and effect the culture from within. If you give these people opportunity and hope they will generally take it. The military might be one way to do that, however if it becomes the only option we're only going to continue our longstanding tradition of forcing minorities into dangerous combat positions. If we make a concerted effort to make impoverished communities a better place and provide different options to those who would otherwise be stuck with either being in a gang or living in constant fear I'd be fine with the military being ONE of those options. However, if we're basically going to pressgang them into the military by presenting it as the only alternative to gang life I'd be more against it. From the many interviews with gang members that I've both watched and read, they are some of the brightest people in this country, although that intelligence is not enhanced at any scholastic level. What we should be doing is creating avenues for them to better their lives, and not just sending them from one war zone to another.

sure thats a decent idea but just make sure you dont stick rival gangmembers together Example : Cripz and Bloodz or Yakuza and triads. So instead of Alpha team it would be like Cripz team or sumthin

You don't know anything do you. Alright a country has no military. That country is rich in natural resources, the country next door is in dire need of natural resources but it has a developed military. What is stopping the country with an army from attacking the defenceless country. If there are no militaries there is nothing stopping groups from mobilizing and using violence to swiftly get their needs.
