Lets not forget that the vast majority of people in prison are on drug offenses including Marijuana, we have more people in prison thena communist country like China.

Economically speaking it would be wise for the government to legalize it since they could benefit from the tax revenue and regulate it. Also, the money would no longer be going into the pockets of criminals who may be guilty of worse offenses than drug trafficking. As has already been mentioned, the prison population would also decrease somewhat.
I wouldn't be so certain that marijuana will stay illegal. In fact I would be willing to bet within my lifetime it will be legalized as the demographics change. Unfortunately society as a whole should be able to function without mind altering substances. Whenever I see these questions I can't help but to think of "Brave New World." I myself don't engage in any sort of activity like this and it is especially infuriating when someone who is high or intoxicated ends up killing a more virtuous and valuable person in the name of hedonism. But, such is the state of the world when a person will be willing to risk the harm of others (even if that chance in slight) in the name of their own pleasure.
Think of this. Suddenly the government bans all fatty food because they say it's bad for you and the common good of our nation etcetera and so on. You would be pissed and so would I.
It sounds outlandish, but it's the same logic. Ask why marijuana is illegal to begin with.
I see a far greater problem with smoking tobacco and alcohol abuse. I for one am 100% supportive of responsible use.

No. As it stands, it is against the law. To disobey the law is direct resistence to the Federal Government of the United States. Anyone who opposes the government is considered a threat and a treasonist by myself and the government and should be punished apporiately!!!!
If they really want to smoke weed that bad, they should go about it the way it is suppose to be. Talk to a local congressman and try to get a law passed legalizing it. Then go smoke it.
they definitley should, it is not nearly as harmful as drinking. drinking causes serious long term affects to your liver. also there's no hangovers like with drinking and it's safer. how many people have you heard of that have died because they were driving while they were high? not even close to the number of people killed by drunk driving.
