Apparently they didn't die according to the sequel so I really don't know what to think. My theory was that they died in the crash at the start and were trapped in some sort of limbo.
I liked the film, it had a lot of problems but it captured the atmosphere pretty well. The cult was abysmal however.
I loved it. I only saw it either late last year or early this year, but I'm glad I waited. I'd have focused on the stupid points instead of feeling the whole movie. I LOVED the fact that it was a mess. It was unpredictable, just like the games (still haven't gotten around to playing them myself, but I've watched playthroughs) and that's the appeal. You never know when the normal town is going to turn back into a hellish nightmare. You can never sleep. You can never rest. That horrifies me. While some parts of it weren't fantastic, as a whole I loved it. The ending to me is that they're still stuck. I like the idea that they died in the crash at the start, though.
It looked great and had some genuinely creepy sets and effects, but I hated the blatant misuse of monsters and story elements, and the writing and acting are terrible.
Not as bad of a bastardization that the resident evil movies were for sure. But they took the premise of the first game and combined elements of the second and made the protagonist a women. Pyramid Head and the sleazy nurses were a product of James' guilt and sexual deprivation. Those were unique to James, so why's a women being haunted by those things? And why did they kill Cybil for?
It captured the world of silent hill really well but the rest was just terrible. And the ending? Travis from silent hill origins how he can pass through worlds.
Its great! Im disappointed they never made a sequel. Somehow Resident Evil wich is pointless has 16 sequels. I liked SH more after i saw a behind the scenes thing on Youtube.
Loved the movie, it was and still is one of the best movies made from a game series yet, if probably ever. They did a great job with getting the feel of Silent Hill while having a main lead who actually made more sense and fit in just fine with the story. The ending was very interesting and has me wondering if what happened to Silent Hill has become something much larger and has created a kind of pocket space between the hell created by the young child and the real world. I hope they won't screw up the sequel.
I didn't really care for it. Obviously they were trying to create a nightmare world, but my nightmares don't consist of tens of millions of dollars worth of CGI, so that was a huge fail. In the end I assumed they were in some sort of parallel dimension or whatever Silent Hill existed in - unable to interact with the real world. The movie had a few cool parts but that's about it.

Yeah, for the most part it looked pretty great. Anyway, I think that the movie sort of sucked, but it's by far the best video game movie I've ever seen. Highly flawed as it is, at least it's not completely unwatchable.

It was a clusterf*** of CGI. Incredibly ugly. *shrugs* If that's what you think, then fine. But you're sort of in the minority opinion here. Even the snooty professional critics who bashed the movie generally seemed to agree that it looked great.

It was a clusterf*** of CGI. Incredibly ugly. For the most part they used costumes and props. Pyramid Head was really there, Nurses, Armless man etc. They just added some detail over the costumes to spice it up I guess.
