Silversun Pickups just recently released their extreamly anticipated album "Swoon," yesterday. The band has been getting massive amount of underground hype and people have been waiting for almost two years for this albums release since their full album debut "Carnavas," which made many top 10 "best" album of the year.

Personaly, i think this band is spitting on thousand upon thousands of bands out their and walking all over them. They are not selling out, they don't conform in making "poppy catchy" songs, and have a depth of personality and soul to their music. This band is so extreamely different, their potential truly matches their hype, the new album has to be one of the most ambitious and complex albums of the year so far, and although its very "heavy," it is well constructed and shows their maturity as a band.

What do you think of the band? If you are aware of the band, have you listened to the albums recent album?

Well if i recommend a few tunes, "Theres no secret this year" "The Royal We" are both fantastic songs. Panic Switch is also almost a given.

No, they are not. They just been "cliched" to the Smashing Pumpkins. They do sound A LOT like them. They are a mix between, Smashing Pumpkins, My bloody Valintine and The Pixies all blended together.

HELL EFFIN YEAH! I was playing Rock Band the other day and they have a song on it and I love it! Not to mention, for some reason, they remind me of Kill Hannah; Another band which I really like.

"Its nice to know...." is probably my least favorite song in the album. But "Surrounded/spiraling" is a great way to finish the album.

Yeah, it definitely sounds a lot different then the other songs on the album but I thought it was a lot catchiery then the rest. It also has somewhat of a jazz(?) feeling to it which I like.

Yes, mostly if not all of it comes from the Drumming. Un-orthodoxed smooth toms, good stuff.

The new album is solid, but a lot of the same from Canavas. Not that it's a bad thing, but I was hoping for some more evolution in sound. No matter, it's still a fun listen. :) I like the band. They're rather good.

No, just Billy Corgan ;) I love the way the band sounds otherwise

I guess technically you're right though...he is pretty much the band.

Listened to all their songs on their myspace, they are pretty good. They aren't a band complex enough for me to give their stuff multiple listens to finally "Get it" or a band where they just click with me. So I don't think I would purchase their albums, but they are listenable to. Just a question, their singer is a guy right? Because normally I'm a big fan of higher vocals, but I don't like the vocals too much...

Complex? Are you serious? This band is so far complex with in their own genre and style thats what makes them so ambitious and fantastic. A song doesn't have to have "high tech" gimmick sounds to sound complex and well crafted, Radiohead is a fantastic example of this.

I'm kind of on the fence with SSP. I mean, I like some of the songs from Carnavas but I don't know. I suppose I haven't listened to Pikul or Swoon though (just bought Swoon on impulse from lala.com since it's on sale for $3.99!), so I can't give a definitive answer.

Listen to it with an open mind and ears, remove yourself from all biasness and you will be surprised. Although the album truly isnt for everyone as is the band.

When I read the title, I thought Siversun was a brand that made guitar parts and you wanted to know if the pickups they make were any good or not to put on your guitar. No, I've never heard of the band.

Beh, Mars Volta were the biggiest craze but their lattest album was a huge disappointment (a very big let down personaly) knocked the guys out of peoples eye, hopefully they do more this time around, although i do have much respect for them.
