Since when was Lil Wayne considered better than Dream Theater?

YES, I got into a facebook argument...

edit: 3 posts in and people are misunderstanding. What I meant was that people tend to think that all the popular stuff's the good stuff. Wwhen It's not. It's marketed garbage. And anyone with half a brain would realize. I'm tuning out all the "NNNNAAAAAHHH! It's subjective" people. Because whether you like it or not, there IS bad music.

Lil wayne is the beethovan of our generation. Dream theater on the other hand is some generic band.

DT and LTE are amazing, obviously its not for everyone, but with the right audio gear you can truly appreciate the music.

Also, the suggestion that something being heavily marketed somehow makes it worse is pretty flawed.

The Beatles' music was marketed to hell and back and yet their songs generally crap all over Dream Theatre's.

If the numerous music threads on OT have tought us anything it's that musical taste is incredibly subjective and that there is no defining characteristic to a musical group that makes one better than another. On topic, I dislike both Lil Wayne and Dream Theater, so I don't really have an opinion on which is better.

People have differing opinions TC. Deal with it. Personally I think Dream Theater are boring as hell, but I don't begrudge anyone else liking them.

Because some people personalize it just way too much and think that their music taste says somethin about their intelligence. That's my theory anyway.

I mean, I like a good musical debate once in awhile and I'm not shy about saying what I think is good and what I think is bad, but to try to "prove" one piece of music is better than another just for the sake of feeling superior is just madness IMO.

Music taste, unless someone is listening to music for reasons of "social status", comes down to what sounds good to any given person.

Lil Wayne sucks. So does Dream Theater, and while I'm hating on your bands, Radiohead sucks as well.
