I can't remember was he in the book? I know they stopped in Rivendell but I forgot who they talked too.
I'm pretty sure they stayed in Rivendell for a while and Elrond was there.
yeah -elrond was introduced in the hobbit...

I hope Hugo Weaving reprises the role as well, I mean considering that Elrond supposedly never grows old.
I thought they already had the map he just gave further information on it and the runic language of the Dwarves. Then he gave them swords or he explained their swords were Elven, one of the two. I need to read the book again, it's been awhilei believe he gave them the map to smaug's keep.

maybe. its been a while since i read it. he definately had something to do with the map though, so im sure he was in there. it just wasnt a big part. it definately wasnt as important as gollum or gandalf.
I read that whole thing and the only thing that got me excited is the fact that...
...PETER JACKSON is making a TINTIN movie! Oh MY GOOODNESSSS! my favorite comic ever.
This isn't really that unexpected if you've been following it for a while, like the geek I am. I still think they're making a mistake not having Jackson do it.
What do you think Smaug's gonna be like?

I think they could possibly find someone that could do the series justice. I dont personally agree with everything Jackson did. But thats not to say I dont like the movies, because I do.

I've only seen Pan's Labryinth from del Toro; what else has he done? I wasn't that impressed by it.Only slightly impressed by Pan's Labyrinth? Wow you are the first...
Umm well he did Hellboy, which is probably his best known global one, but has done a few Spanish ones, not least of which was The Devil's Backbone... He will not dissapoint with this movie, I will stake my limited reputation on it...
