Yesterday I had a pretty rough sleep, you know some nights where you simply cannot sleep for whatever reason. So I woke up at around 8am, despite falling asleep at like 4ish. Anyway, I stayed awake for a few hours, had a smoke, and went back to sleep at 10.

When I awoke from sleeping at around 11:30ish I opened my eyes to see my wall to the left of my bed. I was fully awake and had total control of my eyes and thoughts however, when I attempted to move I found my body was completely paralyzed and tingling with a numb sensation.

I began to panic but that did nothing, I was only able to move my right foot ever so slightly. Suddenly everything just felt...wrong...like I was in my room, but it wasn't my room. It was dark, gloomy and suddenly I felt a presence move up on the right side of my bed. I never saw it, but I knew it was there. It was a large, dark figure standing there. For some reason I felt as if he was evil the second he arrived. I couldn't turn my head to face him, because I'm paralyzed, so I start freaking out.

Then the worst part, my ribs feel a tight grip on them and it feels as if some one is crushing me and ripping me away from my bed. I'm not actually moving, but it seems as if I am. Then the dark figure starts speaking. I kid you not. In full reality I heard the voice behind me. It spoke in a deep voice that was demonic, but it was not speaking English to me as it continued to rip me from my bed.

I fought as hard as I could but then closed my eyes and gave in. Everything went away and I was calm, but then I began to panic, I couldn't just fall asleep with this thing out there. I opened my eyes again and it was much worse and now there was a static sound blaring. I quickly snapped my left hand up and grabbed my face, waking me from the episode. As soon as my hand touched my face the world was returned to normal, and I was in the exact same position as I was during the event.

These events happen to 1 in 5 people to various degrees, you can look up Sleep Paralysis on Google. Does anyone have any stories to share like mine?

I've had it happen twice. Couldn't feel that I was breathing, couldn't move anything. Lots of rambling voices, and one the voices, right before I regained control,  said "die". Scared me pretty good.

Second time I thought "oh, this again..."

I've had something very similar happen. There was no demonic voice, but there was an extremely eerie presence in my room as well. I've heard scientific explanations for the phenomon, even though it felt supernatural AF. I've also, within the same month-period of time, had an astral projection experience while sleeping. I was able to look down on my body, asleep, while my consciousness was stuck floating upward, against my ceiling. It was quite strange, but also something not too uncommon from what I understand. Most people would say I was just dreaming, but I know if they were to experience the same thing, they'd know I wasn't.

seems like you were still asleep some, when I've heard of sleep paralysis it's usually people awake and done dreaming not being able to move or control breathing, I've hear though that people can't move but one guy told me if he say focuses on moving something like a toe or finger that the rest of him snaps awake fully and that's that, but you could move your feet and still had sleep paralysis which is new from anything else I've heard, maybe the explanation is...
YOU'RE POSSESSED NOW!! The dark figure has your soul, get your ass to church.
several years ago, i had sleep paralysis on a regular basis (at least a couple of times a week) for like a whole year. i got the typical sensation of panic, seeing glimpses of dark figures in the corner of my eye, the feeling that my bed was shaking, the feeling of my body levitating, the ominous feeling of doom--all sorts of crazy, demonic stuff. i sometimes tried to scream out, but my voice always got muffled, and when the paralysis ended my scream would suddenly seep out--but when it came out it would sound like the climax of a scream, like i had been screaming the whole time when i hadn't. it was pretty scary at first, but then i got used to it.

one of the most memorable occurences happened to me when i was on vaction in the dominican republic. at the resort i was at they had workers who would use machetes to cut down cocunuts from palm trees for the patrons to eat. anyway, my room had a balcony that could be seen from laying down on the bed. when i had my paralysis, i saw one of those workers come in from the open balcony: he came up to my bedside and gave a threatening gesture with his machete and smiled; i then remember him rumaging through the bedside table looking for some valuables; the last thing i remember is him coming at me with his machete after being angry at not finding anything. i didn't see the details of his face or body; i just saw a pure black face with a white smile and general outerwear. at this point i was very accustomed to sleep paralysis, but it still freaked me the hell out.

all that said, i haven't had a sleep paralysis experience in about a year and a bit. tbh, i kinda wish i still had it because it was just so surreal.

Wow you sound like you had it bad. I really, never want to experience one of these ever again. I feel like they are so overwhelming. These past two nights I've just barely slept out of fear it will happen again.

Happens a lot to me. I never hallucinate though. First time it happened, I tried to scream; but couldn't. Freaked out. Realized what happened. Calmed down. Now when it happens, I just focus on moving my toes. Then feeling slowly returns to the rest of my body. I notice it only happens when I experience exploding head syndrome.

yeah, i experienced it so frequently that i eventually learned to calm down and assure myself that what was happening wasn't real. still gave me a scare every so often.

next time it happens to you just try to go with it and tell yourself that you're fine. it's hard to concentrate while it's happening, but it's possible if you try to focus.

If I eat lunch and then take a mid day nap, 7 times out of 10 I'll get sleep paralysis. I don't see any dark figures though. I'm used to it.

One time I felt hands pressing against my back and a voice telling me to come with it.
Another time, I was just looking around my room when I suddenly heard a loud horrible noise, this green mist filled the room, and I couldn't move.
I've had the voice of my brother or mother trying to get me to wake up/look at them while someone shook my bed, or even jumped on it.
I've heard loud breathing coming from the sofa beside my bed.
I often hear a sudden, loud buzzing noise in my head just as I start to fall asleep.
I've felt something actually try to pull me out of bed.
A demonic hand/claw reaching for my face.

This reminds me of one time that I was trying to fall asleep(I was rolling in bed, trying to find the perfect spot :P ), when suddenly someone put their hand on my shoulder and said bless you. I replied good night thinking it was my dad, and when I finished turning around nobody was there. Turned the tv immediately and started watching cartoons. :P

Never happened to me, supposedly it's not that uncommon, but do all cases involve demonic creepy stuff?

The only thing I can even think of like this is the youngest memory of myself I have. I was like 3 and my father was reading to me and my brother. I was in bed and had my back leaning against the wall when I felt something tug on the bottom of my shirt from the crack between the bed and wall.. Scared the sh!t outta me.

Also, whoever said they had a dream of looking down at themselves being conscious - I've experienced the same thing, wasn't scary but man it was weird.

Has happened to me about half a dozen times or so.

Extremely scary when you can't breathe. I've had the whole shadow moving around once before as well, but nothing demonic. My last one happened last week, actually. Was laying on my side, and my whole left side felt like it was vibrating. Slowly at first, then it would increase and kept going on a loop. It took me a long time to break it because it keep coming on and only stopping for a brief second. This one I could actually breathe, but I know it lasted a long time due to the weird loop I was stuck in. Was finally able to roll off the couch and break free though.

I have never experienced that, but I have had some intense nightmares that I thought were real. Had one were I was executed while on my knees by a guy holding a pistol against my forehead. I didn't wake up when I died in my dream so I was just there looking from my dead body. Just watching but can't do anything else because I was dead. Very disturbing.

that sounds terrible.

i sleep like a stone.

no matter what i'm out like a light around 60 seconds after my head hits the pillow and i don't budge until the next morning.

i would go to a doctor if i was you. it sounds like you don't get enough oxygen while you sleep.

that sounds terrible.

i sleep like a stone.

no matter what i'm out like a light around 60 seconds after my head hits the pillow and i don't budge until the next morning.

i went camping once and my buddys threw firecrackers near my feet with the intention of scaring the piss out of me and i never even heard them go off and was completly undisturbed.

if they had not told me they did it i would never have known.

Extremely jealous. It can take me a hour to fall asleep. I am easily waken and then it's hard to get back to sleep. I guess I'm kinda lucky because I can wake up to a alarm clock like its nothing. I also easily get up. I never lay in bed wishing I could sleep, when that alarm sounds, I'm up.

i feel bad for people because my gf has sleep apnea and its a friggin nightmare for her.

she went to a sleep center and they hooked her up to an eeg and a bunch of other crap that monitors everything and said she stops breathing dozens of times a night and it plays hell with her sleep patterns.

i always wondered why i sleep the way i do and asked my parents and they said,  "y'know how people tiptoe around babys and make everyone be super quiet and obsess about it?" "don't do that, its a stupid thing to do and makes your baby  wake up at the slightest noise." "be loud and make the little sucker get used to sleeping through noise."

lol!
