Hey, I'm a college student who is often very busy with my studies and day-to-day chores, I turned to cigarettes as a way to help deal with stress as they're a great excuse to just step out of whatever task or job I may be doing at the moment and have a break.

The main draw for me -- in addition to the quick break to collect myself -- is the headrush I get when smoking. However, I fully realize the health complications that arise from smoking and am not at all interested in contracting cancer, or emphezema etc.

My question is: Is there any alternative to smoking standard light cigarettes that would give me a near equivalent headrush and allow me a good excuse to step out of a work environment for awhile?

I'm not looking to feel healthy per se; one of the two main stipulations I put forth is the head rush you get from smoking. I'm asking if there's a healthy alternative to achieve such an effect.

The only other drug that has the effects and duration you want is cocaine, but unless you have a godly amount of willpower you should avoid it.

I honestly don't know. perhaps you just need to except the lack of a headrush. I personally think it's bs that smokers get to step out of work for a break whenever they need a smoke. If a nonsmoker steps out for a break however people yell at you for time theft or something.

Maybe just tell your boss you need a break once in a while even though you no longer wish to smoke.

oh I beg to differ...

killing your body vs enhancing your body.... most people will never know the high of fitness because they're so Dependant on their drugs... that they can't imagine feeling good without them.. but they'd be wrong.

Yeah, I hear you. It's unfair I think a big reason a lot of people take up smoking is they tend to be high-strung individuals. I tend to get pretty stressed out and wound up and need to take a break every now and then to collect my thoughts. Possibly a side-effect of introverted inclinations -- I don't know. Thanks for the straight up response.

Why are you speaking for most individuals? I've played organized sports most of my life, and it's nothing like the head rush you get from smoking tobacco or other substances. Methinks you're looking for attention here.

Ecstasy, way underated. It used to be used medically to treat stress and the likings. Could work for you, although its not something you just "do"

I am speaking for other people.. because I often understand other people better than they understand themselves. Yes, this sounds arrogant, and whatever else you want to call it, but in all honesty, it's true. I've always had a great ability for feeling out and knowing people for their true intentions. AND, I know what's good for them. Nothing can beat the feelings of living a clean, healthy life style... connected to your community on a spiritual level, without the need of any gods or idols.

wow you have just been on a pedestal today. be careful though you might catch yourself doing something dumb or out of character only to get knocked back down with the rest of us. Whatever you do though if such a thing does happen make sure to post about it on gamespot so that I might enjoy the poetry of it.

I don't know this "rush" you speak of as when I smoked it I thought I was going to puke. I also find that drinking water alleviates stress during classes. Just go outside and relax for a bit. It's repulsive that 95% of my campus smokes cigarettes and funny that most of them do it because they're bored. People refuse to just SIT. They need to be either texting, talking, or smoking.

I don't proclaim to be a better person than anybody.. in fact it's my own short comings that allows me to understand others better.

normally I would say "no, there isnt a good alternative"

but I just quit smoking about six weeks ago. I must say, stop...just stop. It feels soooooo much better. Whatever brief headrush and satisfaction I got from smoking a cigarette is outweighed by the constant stream of energy and euphoria I have now.

Everything is better without smoking (except drinking, and I admit to indulging five or six times since quitting with a cigarette). Food taste better, your junk works better, you dont get headaches, you just feel better.

I dont know why I ever smoked in the first place.

Oh and the addicition is easy to get over. Its the habit thats the hardest part. Mark my words; I still reach for my pocket on occasion when at work.

This, if you're already addicted. Have you given the herb a shot? Another great alternative is tea. Try Yerba Mate, whenever I'm stressed I sit down and have a cup of mate (or any other loose leaf tea, maybe a bowl), and I feel level headed, calm, and collected. Its also very healthy, and you will feel much better in the long run.

I hear theres some ginseng cigarettes you can get from healthshops or something, but honestly, why would you want to live to be old, i would rather live happily and unhealthy to the age of 50-60 than live carefully and semi happily to the age of 80-90
