They make FULLSCREEN Blu-Rays? Argh, that means I have to carefully inspect the Blu-Rays I buy to make sure it's not a **** disc for people with **** TVs? Who buys Blu-Ray for a 4:3 TV?thequietguy
it's not that they make 4:3 blu-rays, it's that a lot of older movies are filmed/drawn in 4:3. i have a copy of casablanca on hd dvd and it's 4:3 but still high def. the blu-ray is the same.
as for the $220/$250 snow white blu-ray, it's a limited collecters edition. amazon has it for $150. the blu-ray itself is $26.
here's a pic:

Relax. The movie was made in 1937, "widescreen" didn't exist back then.
Lmao. Hey if they release Teh Bambi and Lion King it will be full of win. That's not such a bad deal, comes down to $31.42 per dwarf.

OK thanks. And who would pay $200+ for a Snow White BD if it doesn't come with the Mirror or a real live dwarf. I'm PRETTY sure a book, a box, and stickers/keychains isn't worth $200.Bestbuy should state that it's a collector's edition. The price is still ridiculous but I'm sure there's an avid fan of Snow White or Disney that's probably gonna get it. Last time I watched Snow White was probably when I was 4 or 5. I probably wouldn't mind watching it again for its nostalgia value but not for $200+.

not true. thomas edison invented several widescreen and color film formats in the late 1800's but they where too expensive to use. some movies like gone with the wind (1939) was in color and so was the wizard of oz (1939).

or maybe the wanted collects set? or the hellboy 2 set? then there's the wizard of oz, twilight, i am legend, casablanca, and the gone with the wind set. the snow white collectors set isn't the only collector set but it is the most expensive because for some reason disney thinks people are stupid enough to pay their ridiculous prices.

They kind of went for a more modern interpretation, you know, post-industrial/grunge/heavy metal.

Ok, sorry, widescreen in animated movies were not commonplace in 1937. Also, no one mentioned anything about color films, which also existed long before the Wizard of Oz.

That has to be a typo. There is no way they can expect people to pay $200+ for a Snow White BD unless the person has a serious fetish for dwarves. :?[QUOTE="cowgriller"]

and HD for a cartoon from 1937 is useless hehe you're basically paying for the extras.not true. although it's a cartoon, it is still put on film and film can be scanned in at 2K, 4K and 8K resolutions for preservation and restoration (also to have a better quality master for future releases.)
Actually the blu-ray price is 89.99, but who in the world would pay that much to watch that old movie on Blu-ray ?? WT ??LexLasIt'll be 29.99 when it releases in October. Snow White is one of the best selling animated films ever. So, I'm sure many people would pay over that price anyway to own it, before it goes into moratorium.

there's three versions. the movie by itself: $30, the limited edition: $90, and the limited collectors edition that i posted the pic of earlier: $250. amazon has all three at better prices however. the $250 version is being sold for $150.
it says 89.99 for it
