So a kid threw a dead rat at me today....

I am an 18 year old guy currently living in Pakistan. I was on my way home today from school with some of my friends and at one point we were walking through a very messed up part of town. Then a kid (around 14 years old I think) comes out of no where with a dead rat in his hands. He wasn't wearing a shirt and his pants were torn in several places. He started to follow us and then started to yell insults at us. We ignored him and kept walking. The kid wouldn't go away and he was starting to piss us off. We turned around and told the kid to GTFO and leave us alone but then he started yelling even more. Then he just randomly threw the rat and it hit me straight on the chest. I think it was already cut open because some of its guts and internal juices spilled all over my shirt. At this point I snapped and went over to him and pushed him down to the ground. He got up and bit my hand. I wrestled him off of me and punched him a few times. After that he backed off and ran away. An elderly lady saw the whole thing and scolded me for being too harsh on the boy but my friends thought that my actions were justified. So what do you think? Did I go too far? I do feel a little guilty about it since he was young but I can't even describe how angry I was when he threw the rat at me...

Are you american or looked out of place? I would have shoved that dead rat in his damn mouth, after punching him in the face. So to answer your question, no you didn't go overboard. I'm sure hitting anybody that much younger feels bad, but your actions were justified.
