I listen to Ahab and Candlemass every now and then and, if they count, Pentagram, Saint Vitus and Reverend Bizarre are great. I'm not really a fan though, and don't listen to it that often. "It's alright" seems appropriate.
One of my favourite bands, Insomnium, are doom metal apparently, or melodic doom metal or some other ridiculous genre type. They're pretty amazing if you ask me.

It's really diverse and hard to cIassify what is doom and what is not. It's not a bad genre, as I like Swallow the Sun but there's a ton of crap out there. I love Agalloch but they aren't doom in my opinion.
Yeah, I enjoy it. Not my favorite metal subtype, but it's definitely not bad. Doom (or doom related) bands I like are: Candlemass, Acid Bath, Electric Wizard, Funeral, Boris, Sunn O))), Amorphis, Katatonia, Swallow the Sun, Gallhammer, Isis, Paradise Lost, few others I can't remember.
Sludge/doom, yes? They definitely should count. Doom is okay. I like a lot of funeral doom (Catacombs, Ahab, Wormphlegm, etc.) and some sludge/doom (Shrinebuilder, Black Tusk, The Atlas Moth, Dark Castle). Old school doom like Saint Vitus, Candlemass, and even more recent incarnations like Sahg are okay.

Nah. Bongripper is pretty damn good stoner/doom though. Their newest album is great, droning evil. The riffs have a lot of atmosphere similar to Sunn O))) but better.
