I've been somewhat skeptical but mostly open-minded to the idea of ghosts, spirits, demons, etc. in my life so I've been trying to rationalize the evidence that has been pointing towards a haunting in my house, but things are happening that I really can't put a legit reason to.

For instance:

My cats have been acting strange since I moved in. The older one is more jumpier than usual (which could be a coincidence of old age), but the other night, we were cuddling together and I was half asleep and she jumped out of her sleep like something scared her and it scared me too so I jumped, and she was watching intensely something moving across the floor. I assumed that it must be a bug or something skittering across the floor, so I kept watching the floor but she kept watching this moving thing that wasn't there.

My younger cat, whenever she's upstairs alone, she makes this whining meow and its really weird. She never used to do this unless she felt threatened by another (stray) animal.

Electronics such as our washing machine and our dishwasher have turned on and off by themselves, and I've woken up to loud music blaring from my itunes that I didn't turn on.

When we first moved in, my little sister said she was standing in her closet arranging clothes and she heard a deep growling behind her in the corner of the closet and about a week ago, she was in her closet again and she said she heard someone sighing next to her ear. My mom has always felt very weird things in her closet. She is very intent on her experience and she says that she felt that something was watching her from inside her closet and when she closed her eyes to sleep, felt something, like the body heat of another person, standing next to the bed and then it touched her face.

I've had feelings of being watched, but that could also be a product of this subtle fear attracting my attention to things like this.

What do you think OT? Any experience on the matter?

Leave cameras lying around. And get an ouiji board. That worked out well on Paranormal Activity.

Hahah, I saw that recently. That didn't seem to work too well. I've used a Ouija board somewhat recently (month or two ago) and I got some legit results, including some physical feelings, but I've kinda promised to not do that again and especially not in my own house.

Do you have a proof to proove that they do not exist? "I've never seen one" isn't proof. Thats like me saying Thailand doesnt exist because I've never seen it. Or Rhinos. I've never seen Rhinos. What about wind? I cant see wind.

Most people in the paranormal field will tell you it is not a good idea. It's the equivilant of leaving your door open at night in a bad nieghborhood.

I don't know what you mean, but I have heard a story about a girl who messed with one of those, and got possessed by a demon. But I agree, don't use one of those.

The idea is that you arn't garunteed to get some benevolent spirit. You are essentially opening yourself to an unknown entity and giving it full reign to attach itself to you if it wants. It's sorta like giving your personal information to a stranger over the net. Not a good idea.

My serious advice would be to find a paranormal board if you are worried. In most cases ghosts can't really harm you, but if you're concerned I would suggest a different board. You're just going to get 5 pages of people saying "lol ghosts don't exist" and ignoring your questions if you try here.

When you're home alone next time say this: "Spirit I'm calling your ass out. Dance off in 5, be there" Then school him at a dance, you got legs and it probably doesn't. If it does well, nice knowing you.

That's what I'd do. Also leave punch and pie out at night. Ghosts love punch and pie.

I find it hard to believe. Basically in similar cases of ghosts, aliens, paranormal stuff...etc, when the witness mentions the same old things of sudden appearances, loud music...etc of cheap cinema tricks, I tend to find it unbelievable, if you know what I mean.

You should get a friend or someone to spend the night at your house or go into your closet and see what they do, but don't tell them about any ghosts or anything. If they do feel the same things as you, somethings up.

I actually kinda got scared reading your little story.

I've had a few strange experiences over the years. Twice I've had my name whispered directly into my ear as if someone was standing right next to me. I once had a bathroom door slammed into my leg while on the toilet at 2am and no one was there, nor were any windows open. My bed's been what felt like kicked from underneath, possibly a spring breaking? The most recent one was a voice, the most demented sounding you can imagine, telling me, "I want your....", I couldn't understand the end, sounded a bit like something spoken in tongues.

But aside from the bathroom and bed being jarred, all of these happened when I was dozing off, almost asleep, so I don't lend them much credence. But they were so vivid it was like someone was in the room slamming the door, and one frightened me so much I was up all night 6 hours not moving a muscle.

Maybe they do, and they're not shy they are trying to get your attention, but you ignore them.

They are invisible, so that may be why they don't "show up like normal people" They're dead, what the heck do you want from them.

And also he obviously meant Might not, stop being ignorant.

I feel ya OP. I think my basement might be haunted too. I actually went down there last week to take some pictures hoping that maybe I could capture some ghosts on film or something, and I think I may have gotten some proof in the form of orbs:

Do you have a proof to proove that they do not exist? "I've never seen one" isn't proof. Thats like me saying Thailand doesnt exist because I've never seen it. Or Rhinos. I've never seen Rhinos. What about wind? I cant see wind.

As a kid in a disney movie with Tim Allen once said

"Have you ever seen a million dollars? Just because you've seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist."

And as Sam Jackson once said "The abscence of evidence is not the evidence of abscence!"

O well said. :)

Not really.

I've seen money. Why does it especially matter how much money one has seen? Once you see one dollar or a hundred dollar bill then you can be reasonably certain that dollars exist.

"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." Um, okay, right, but there is no reason to believe in any particular thing without evidence, so that's a rather pointless claim if there ever was one. Maybe there are fire-breathing gerbil-like creatures on some other planet, but why should I concern myself with the infinite number of possible things that one could imagine the existence of? The burden of proof lies with someone who claims that they have reason to believe something does exist, not with someone who says they have no reason to believe it exists.

As a kid in a disney movie with Tim Allen once said

"Have you ever seen a million dollars? Just because you've seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist."

And as Sam Jackson once said "The abscence of evidence is not the evidence of abscence!"

StopThePresses

O well said. :)

Not really.

I've seen money. Why does it especially matter how much money one has seen? Once you see one dollar or a hundred dollar bill then you can be reasonably certain that dollars exist.

I feel ya OP. I think my basement might be haunted too. I actually went down there last week to take some pictures hoping that maybe I could capture some ghosts on film or something, and I think I may have gotten some proof in the form of orbs:

Once you decide you might have ghosts in your house, every and any little thing that happens you're going to rationalize as being the work of ghosts. That's how things mount up and you start thinking you DEFINITELY must be living in a haunted house. Truth is, cats act silly. My cat walks in circles around trees over and over and over again. Maybe you should have an electrician look at your wiring to see why things are turning on and off? Job done. :P

Your sister just needs to "come out of the closet" ;)

My parents house is haunted. So I understand what it is that you're saying.

Ouija Boards = DO NOT USE THEM

In the film, The Exorcist, its been implied in the scene (Regan and her Mom in the basement) that Regan had been messing around with a Ouija Board. And we all know how that film turned out. Yes, it's ONLY a film. But the film was based on William Peter Blatty's novel of the same name, which is based on ACTUAL EVENTS that happened in 1949. Although a Ouija Board was not involved in the 1949 event.

If all else fails call a priest. It seems to be pretty effective in all the paranormal stories that I've heard. You don't even have to be religious or catholic, just have him come over and do his things and see if things are better.

Some sound and video recordings would be some pretty strong evidence. Given this is all just anecdotal, it cannot really be verified. Why not try calling a priest for an exorcism?

Ghosts don't exist my good man, most of the stuff is in your imagination.

carrot-cake

Do you have a proof to proove that they do not exist? "I've never seen one" isn't proof. Thats like me saying Thailand doesnt exist because I've never seen it. Or Rhinos. I've never seen Rhinos. What about wind? I cant see wind.

Thailand? Rhinos? Win-deh?

call Ghost hunters, Jason and Grant will help you

jimy1475
This is what I was going to say. If you've ever seen the show you could try some of the things that they do to find evidence of ghosts. Try some EVP sessions...have a sound/video recorder and talk to see if you can get an answer when you playback the tape.
