So how did you come up with your usernames?

Just curious. I find it interesting to learn about how others came up with their usernames. I'm sure you want to know how I came up with mine.

Well back in 2008, I think I was into quite a few shows, and had some favorites, one of them was Avatar: The Last Airbender. (To this day I still love that show, and definitely wouldn't mind seeing reruns. I think I also like Korra as well, but I haven't seen nearly enough episodes yet. I got some catching up to do with that one.)

Anyway, yeah, Avatar = great show, with also great characters, chose Toph, wouldn't say its a bad choice at all. And since I'm a girl, eh, why not go with Toph Girl. and 250 was thrown in because I like many numbers, 250 being one of them, and to also have a better shot of signing up with a username someone else on the site doesn't already have.

Toph was my favourite character from TLA ^_^

As for my username I "came up with it" the same way I imagine a lot of users did...tried a bunch of names I liked, they were all taken, got fed up with trying to come up with something nice...saw my X-Men DVD on the shelf and decided "screw this, just going with a less known X-Men and get this over with", so Korvus...

It's kind of hard to explain if you don't speak dutch, but it kind of boils down to me trying to find a ign for maplestory that wasn't already taken (this was about 6-7 years ago), I came up with this one, and I kinda just stuck with it for everything i signed up for.

Calling myself DaVillain means that I represent the Villain in some movies like DC and such, I always go for the baddies. Despite my name, I'm still friendly to all of you OT, it's just the name that I root for the Villains in the movies, AKA DaVillain.

For some reason, When I sign up for GS, I had to include the - at the end of my name cause GS couldn't accept my name just DaVillain and I had to put this stupid crap DaVillain-

its my name and ten years ago, advertising the fact that I used to shop at Abercrombie a lot seemed like a good idea at the time. Naturally it wasn't.

I made this name on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I considered it a decent one, so I made it my username, here.

I like things that some would consider dark or gothic even satanic such as books, art, music that sort of thing.

I had the word dark but what would follow so here are a few names I considered darkchild, darkone, darkcult and darkfury. When I could not think of anymore suddenly light popped into my head. I liked the sound of it so it stuck the 4 has no meaning I just slapped that on the end.

dracos is the name of the darkness that resides inside me or the evil part of my conscious. I have only listened once. 9000 is just a number I like and has nothing to do with DBZ but I do like DBZ.

i ran a hotline server in college that hosted my collection of simpsons episodes ( pre-dvd days ) my admin name was Comptroller Atkins. wanted to keep it when i created my gs acct. but name was too long so it got shortened.

Wife's idea. I have no clue what it meant before (I do now). But, she snickers every time she says it.

i was 16 when i got in trouble. had to do a months worth of weekends in juvy(i was still in school, so i did weekends instead of a month straight.) I actually got a weekend off though. i had turned 17 just before my last weekend at juvy. and being that at 17, i was legally an adult, i would have had to served my last weekend in jail.

luckily due to my good behavior(paying my fines and showing up for my probation officer everytime, and finishing my community service faster than most) they decided to waive that last weekend.

It's nothing that cool really. It's an Arabic word which means learned or intellectual. But then there were like 10 different users with the same name so I had to put some random number at the end of it.

Well when I created this username I wasn't thinking of that really. In reality it's just a combination of my forename and my middle name.

Randomly.

I just thought of how funny it would be to have LeVar Burton trolling the shit out of people at the time.

Metal Gear

He's one of my favorite villains from Super Paper Mario and I like the number 12.

I used to lurk here for the longest time. If I made my account back when I was lurking I'd have a much early account creation date. Anyway if you look at my start date you'll see that it is the same date as the X1 reveal. I joined GS so I can scream in frustration at MS and Mattrick for destroying themselves and the Xbox brand. Of course they turned it around and it has become a respectable machine since then.

Anyway when I was lurking all I'd see is people posting numbers. Like the numbers were better than the game itself. Like the numbers defined the game. A game is so much more than that and I made it my account name because in the end all the stuff they were spouting was just a bunchanumbers.

It's my first name, first letter of my surname and day of birth. Cool huh? I made this account in a time period when I just used my first name in everything, I've changed tactics since then.

@bunchanumbers: I can relate...I lurked unregistered for over 10 years because I could never be bothered with actually participating (not to mention I used to have a really volatile personality so I knew that if I had registered I'd be starting shit with everyone) but one day there was an article I really couldn't help but comment on, so I registered...biggest mistake of my life... (just kidding!)

Just a variation of the same name I have used for every online account since I began which is very not smart, don't do what I did kids

The original one was from my name but changing it to numbers to mock the way people spoke online and to discourage people from adding me (a5hl3yb33). I'm sure it didn't look that way but I thought I was being a clever cookie at the time.

Well I'm a guy and I'm shy. The numbers are my DOB minus the year.

A Google search landed me here for the first time. I was looking for a demo and I was prompted to register an account before I can download it. So I just came up with a username that I'd remember if I ever needed to download something from my newly discovered gaming website again. I'd really like to change it seeing how it was never my intention to actually use it as a username for a site I frequent.

I think the logic at the time was Stormtrooper + Space Marine. Not that too much thought was given.

Are you kidding? GazaAli is a name known to all in OT. It's a pillar of the community =P Don't even dream of changing it!

@korvus: Question, now that your a mod, do you have the power to change anyone name? I just want to get rid of this - at the end of my name. If not, **** it, I'll live with it. It's a minor issue for me anyway.

@davillain-: Unfortunately not. Even some of the mods requested name changes to the admins but it just doesn't happen.

When I joined, in 2003, I was really into the Tenchu games. So ninjastar was a good fit. Plus, I'm a ninja.
