Yeah yeah... he's changed stuff yet again, but I'm still buying the Blu-Ray set come this Friday, because although I am a fanboy, I'm not a stuck up fanboy.

Same here. You'd think that Lucas would put out the version w/o all the enhanced stuff. Oh well.I'm not upset; I merely refuse to purchase.

Everyone is overreacting over these small changes. If the (insane) fans don't like it, more power to them, they don't have to buy it.
I know I'm getting the blu-rays though. :D
... As soon as I get money.
Even money says that this will be in the 3D re-re-release. (Not even sure what the count is for this anymore).i always suspected Aldeeran shot first

I don't buy movies anyway. I don't know why anyone would buy something they've probably already seen a million times and have previously owned on VHS and DVD...Dark__LinkCuz we're suckers. :(
Changing stuff is bad enough, he's tinkering with a classic, but what really bothers me is that they aren't releasing the original version of the film with only the cleanup work done (like making the crossbeam on the speeders solid instead of invisible and shaprening the picture quality). There's more than enough room on Blu-Rays to release the edited version where he rapes yet another Harrison Ford character AND the original version without Greedo shooting first, Jabba having his tail stepped on, all the needless inserted dialogue, and Hayden Christansen at the end.

You, sir, get a wookie-sized thumbs up.
The prequel trilogy already destroyed any interest I had in the IP. Also, Plinkett's reviews didn't help. Though, I'll still watch the unadulterated versions of the original trilogy. Which should have been what made it to Blu-ray. Greedo didn't even shoot.foxhound_fox
Can you even get those anymore? He released the first edited versions back on VHS, so it was before then that they were releasing the original version. I still have my original VHS tapes, but they're wearing out. Also, there are some changes I do welcome like the picture getting cleaned up and the little things getting fixed (I already mentioned the speeder windshields, the vasoline smudge under the landspeeder is another).
I don't really care. I already have all the movies on DVD special edition so I don't feel the need to get this.
I'm fine with the DVD Special Editon Trilogy I bought back in 2007. Plus I'm still not really doing Blu-Ray.
I wish the changes ended at fixing gaffs in the old movies, but they've gone so far into unnecessary additions that it's retroactively made me dislike many portions of the original trilogy. These blu-rays are just bastardizing the films even more. Silly little additions like putting more rocks in front of R2-D2 hiding in an outcropping (that are absent one cut later!) or toying around with added dialogue...what's the point? Lucas needs to look to Blade Runner to see how to do a film release. You can watch the theatrical one if you want. Or the remix. Or the director's cut. Or a work in progress.DJ_LaeConsidering that blu discs could hold more info, then why not release both versions on both discs? Oh yeah, money.
I skimmed through all of the Star Warses (eps I-VI) last weekend and while I'm not opposed to some CGI changes, I would have been more happy if the changed versions weren't *official* releases, if you know what I mean. Like if a talented effects artist (not George Lucas) were to strip out the space battles and insert awesome new original CGI scenes akin to BSG space battles as a Youtube project, there would be thousands of people (myself included) who would love to see that. Because it's all in good fun.
But because George is f***ing with what people loved for changes that *ruin* actual scenes all for the sake of *fixing* canon, it's not the same movie anymore. The blinking Ewok eyes I can live with. Extra rocks or background changes I can live with (I probably wouldn't have noticed in the first place). The stupid Obi Wan dragon call I can even live with. But if George should be fixing anything, he should recut the new trilogy so that it's actually watchable. Maybe remove Jar Jar from Ep I.
I wish I could get this. lucasfilms/fox stop releasing them recentlyI'm fine with the DVD Special Editon Trilogy I bought back in 2007. Plus I'm still not really doing Blu-Ray.

This.
Star Wars is dead to me. After the prequels they ruined the series. I love the originals, thats it.
I don't like Star Wars so I could give a crap about the changes.ExoticAnimalBasically this. I'm not a SciFi fan.
WTF is star wars?
But seriously what changes are they making to it? Is this to do with that 3D release of the original 3 or something?
Just brought em today. So i guess I'm not that upset :P.
Haha Brilliant!i always suspected Aldeeran shot first

The new changes don't bother me. I'm not picking up the blu-ray because I still haven't purchased a single blu-ray movie. I'm just not convinced in 3-5 years it will be the dominant movie format. So I can't justify upgrading my entire DVD collection of 50+ movies.
Here is the thing:
People don't really mind the changes by themselves.
George Lucas is trying to keep a 70s movie fresh in modern times
However....
People do mind he is trying to erase the original, the clas sic that changed SciFi forever
The original series in its pure form is often what defined millions of peoples childhoods
And he wants it purgedfrom the earth,
bull ****** Lucas.
Its like if Spielberg re-released jaws and replaced Bruce with a CGI beast, and tried to hide the genre defying clas sic
or if they added CGI to Wizard of Oz to make it relevant
Give new generations the chance to look into cinema history
Give old ones chances to relive their childhood.
Just give the bloody unedited version already:evil:
I am more upset about how trashy, subpar and half assed the set is. Hopefully enough people complain to get it remastered like the Gladiator BD. Probably sticking with my DVDs if it doesnt.

But the DVD's are extremely rare... but other "versions" do exist. *wink*
I want it, but only if I can watch them without stupid changes. Han shot first dammit, and there is no reason for Vader to scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO like an idiot.
