I got Bloodcurling tales of horror and the macabre
and
The horror in the museum

Theyre the ones with the short stories in them, so

He's amazing, but most people I know think he's boring.

I read call of Cthulhu. It was pretty good. I think he is a cut above your average horror writer, blending intellectual horror with gruesome detail.

At the Mountains of Madness and The Call of Cthulu are pretty good, but I'm not the biggest Lovecraft fan myself.

Nyarlothep and Yog-Sothoth say hello.

Cthulhu is mah home boy!

EDIT: I liked "The Colour Out of Space" the best. It freaked me out more so than the stories involving the Old Ones.

He's a great writer! I really enjoyed his short story the tomb. I haven't read many of his longer works though.

Great short stories. Look online for a list of which stories are cannonical to the Cthulu mythos. Many of his stories shared characters and places with each other.

Do NOT read his poetry. It's really bad.

well... its better than other poetry I've read :(

though i'll admit, his stories far surpass his poetry.

I agree. Lovecraft's a great writer, if a bit over-dramatic, but The Colour Out of Space is by far the best story, followed probably by The Rats in the Walls and then A Shadow Over Innsmouth.

For those of you not in the know, The Colour Out of Space is about a strange meteorite that lands in a rural eastern village and mutates a nearby family. The family locks the mother in the attic because she started crawling on all fours and when the family's kids started to mutate, the father locked them in the attic too, but each one was eaten by their mother. There's a lot more, but you NEED TO READ THIS STORY.

(I'm pretty sure that's how it went - I read it a couple of years ago).

The Rats in the Walls is good, as is The Shadow over Innsmouth, in addition to the stories previously mentioned.
