Yeah. Keep an eye out for images with bright colors; they'll help your collage really pop.

Unless you're going to be playing games on it, you're spending way too much. You can get a decent note taker from Red Rabbit's Redemtec for about 200 bucks.

True. Make also sure they're not too small; it still has to be noticable from a distance.

Buy HP TouchSmart with multi-touch and handwriting support which is very handy for college stuff.

The first thing about going to college is knowing how to spell it right.

As for the laptop you picked out, you are wasting your money. Do you really need a laptop with 6GB of Ram to do school work? I almost find it pointless in having a laptop for college if you own a desktop. Spending over 1,000 dollars to take notes in class isn't worth it.

The truth about laptops, and college:

You'll never take it to class... unless you're "that guy".

Most laptop batteries won't last you through a whole class let alone a full day of classes (especially true for high end laptops).

Your notes will actually be less organized on a laptop, even if you are a MS Office pro.

You're more likely to become distracted especially if the classroom has wireless internet access.

laptops are easy to steal, and break.

laptops keyboards cause major hand cramps when writing papers (buy a normal keyboard and hook it up to your laptop).

Unless you're class is doing something like video editing, or digital art you don't need to spend more than $800 on a laptop. If it's slows down it's probably because of the "free" porn sites you visit.

Edit your title, already >_> If you want something to game on, just get a desktop. Like jrhawk said, the battery will be very inconvenient for notes, and taking notes in class on your laptop isn't as organized. Put the money you would spend on a 1500 dollar laptop towards an 800 dollar desktop built by you, and the other towards a year supply of Ramen Noodles

Um...honestly, carrying around a gaming laptop to classes is a pain, and it looks very awkward too. For the price of the computer you are looking at, you could buy a good $500 one with more than enough inside it to make it through college, a 32" LCD TV for your dorm, and a PS3 or 360.

If it is for University sake, buy HP netbooks. Less than 500 bucks: Super small, do the office job, internet connection and you don't get cashed the extra horsepower needed to distract yourself.
