So I need to be out of my dorm by 6 but my parents can't pick me up until 6:30.

I just finished all my winter quarter finals and spring break starts now. However, if I'm not out of my dorm by six, I get a fine added to my school fees. What should I do? Also, I have no means of packing anything up because I have no duffle bags or anything, so moving all my stuff outside and waiting for my parents to arrive is out of the question.

Go buy, borrow or snatch some bags then. Or just do it all stealthily and sneakily.

$25 for being late in general, and $25 more for every hour I'm still in the residence hall. The university rounds up, too, so that half an hour will count as an hour and my fine will be $50. Not too much, but enough to make me/my parents mad (depending on who pays it).

If you knew that you had to go sooner or later why didn't you bring anything to pack with in the first place?

Call a friend to pick you up. And next time get some bags beforehand. You are an adult in an university, don't expect your parents do to everything for you. But I guess you'll have to live with the fine because you didn't think of a solution sooner.

true however nobody is going to care if you go sit outside for 30 minutes with all of your things. Just have them in a neat manner on the ground and grab a lawn chair or something and wait for your parents to arrive. Or take the fine I don't care.

When this happened to me I put all my stuff in garbage bags and made a pile outside, visible from my dorm room window. Kinda risky, but most college kids aren't looking to get in trouble with the law for petty theft so it's not a big deal.

will there be people actually walking around seeing if everyone is out of their dorms by 6? cause if not, you could probably just wait til 6:30 to do anything and it won't matter.

If he doesn't, he can just "Hey Mister". Kids these days lack ingenuity. You can motivate a lot of people with 50 bucks to sit in a car for a few hours and drive you somewhere.

If hes going to pay $50 for someone to drive him he may as well pay the fine.

Don't know why people post problems on OT, people instantly go into super judgemental mode (As if everything they ever did turned out perfect. Pfff yeah, right.).

Is there no one you can borrow bags from? Can you not arrange to stay a little longer? Is there nowhere you can get bags? No one knows the situation better than yourself so there isn't much anyone here can suggest. $50 isn't that much though.

This right here, don't make things complicated. When I moved I just went to target and asked if they had any extra card board boxes. I got them for free. Stuffed my clothes, electronics and everything else in em. They are not hard to carry since you can fold them up tie them together with strings then fold them back up when you get home.

It always a good idea to know when you can be picked up at the earliest a while in advance so you can tell your BD (Building Director) that you have to stay a little later than what's given.

Buy some bags now and pack up tonight. Or just tell your parents that you will be fined if you don't leave at 6. Sometimes they can leave work earlier - they just make up the lost time some other shift.

Get some garbage bags or boxes from the custodian/maintenance worker at your dorm, and tough it outside for 30 minutes...You're in college, it's all about doing stupid stuff like that, you won't be alone.

Honestly, 50$ should be no issue as you (or your parents) are paying much much more money to send you there. You're creating the problem for yourself by not wanting to pack your stuff and go outside and not wanting to pay the fine. You're going to have to do one or the other.
