So is anyone else joining(Or already in) the Armed Forces?

I just went through MEPs on Wednesday and signed the contract to be a Hospital Corpsman. My NEC is going to be Combat Corpsman, and I'll get to be a part of Fleet Marine Force.

So, does anyone else plan on joining the military, and if so, what do you want to do?

Please don't say "blog it", because this isn't just about me and my week, I'm asking questions to other posters.

Army ROTC. I'll be doing the SMP program with the ARNG soon. Meaning I'll be assigned to a unit and shadow the officer of that unit. Since I'm going with the Guard, I get to choose my MOS and I'm going with 11B (Infantryman).trix5817

My dad was Airborne, and so was my grandfather. Each fought in important conflicts. My dad fought in the first Gulf War and I think he was deployed to Panama, and my grandfather fought in Vietnam.

As a Corpsman, I want to help and fight in one of the two wars going on right now.

I wouldn't consider it idiocy, if anything, unnecessary idealism.

Most people who say that there is never a justification for any act of killing usually aren't the people who do the defending of a country or society.

Outstanding choice, one of my closest friends was our Corpsman for 3 years. They're good guys.

But yeah, I've been in the Marine Corps for over 3 1/2 years now. I'm a rifleman, but since I've done my 2 deployments I got CAP'd out to Camp Maintenance, so now I'm cutting trees and painting buildings until I get out :P

Yea, were I live it's mandatory for every male who isn't handicaped to join at some point. I'll be called to join in 2011 for a year minimum.astiop

The Navy is in charge of those. They're used mainly for transporting vehicles/cargo from the ships to the shore.

I don't get it why people even join the army today. The army is obviously being used and you're not exactly protecting America if you go to Afghanistan or Iraq anyhow. It's exactly like Vietnam, we're trying to shove down our ideas on other nations. It never works.

Haha yeah, the one I was one was a lot smaller, and it had no weapons mounted on it.
